Yup, even the commissioner was there to make sure the refs extended the series, but the Heat are so bad they couldn't even give win a game that was practically given to them.
Rondo's second and third fouls were both totally made up garbage.
How does JO not even get a technical for the takedown of KG?- although IMO there was no intent to injure on the play.

Very well played game. Up 2-0 and on the road it would have been very easy to relax.

It was at least good to see Van Gundy calling out the refs.  That one on Rondo when Wade jumped into him, and then fall back (on a play that really had no baring on the open dunk that was about to occur) was ridiculous.  If anything, it should've been a foul on Wade.

The league should take a look into that "takedown" move by jermaine on kg. That was a clear flagrant imo.

If it's not an elbow, the league office apparently doesn't care.  Cause you know, throwing somebody to the floor by their neck is not incredibly dangerous or anything.

That said, the way Jermaine has played in this series I'd say the league would be doing the Heat a favor by suspending him.  They'd be better off starting Haslem at center.

Stern has been afraid of the thug O'Neal since he won the lawsuit to play after the Detroit brawl.   Agree with the comment about the suspension, posimpos...LOL.

Paul has probably gotten the same call thousands of times in his career.  Wade gets to overtly flagrantly travel and carry about every time he has the ball.  Paul gets to upfake, barrel into a defender going straight up as the defender is coming down...And Paul gets to the free throw line every time he does it....And Paul gets to travel also.  Unlike Wade, Paul actually gets called for traveling once in a while.

With all of these players benefiting from various star calls, how does one know when a game is being officiated or Donaghy'd?

Even without Wade scoring in the second quarter -- he was 0-for-3 -- the Heat had enough to close the half on a 18-9 spurt, taking a 49-48 lead, thanks in part to silly play by Rondo. He cost Boston a basket late in the half when, after flipping the ball to Allen on what was a 2-on-0 break, stopped to hipcheck Wade and send the Heat guard flying. It was Rondo's third foul, and Allen's dunk came off the board.

Interesting interpretation.
Definitely a dumb move by Rondo, whether or not the call made sense. Based on Rondo's body movements, it looked like he braced him self before moving into Wade's path. Why not just let him go since he can't catch up to Ray?

Miami fans would probably complain about Rondo getting away with extra underneath when he fed a trailing Pierce. I was particularly relieved when we got away with a few travels by our big men who are fond of shuffling their feet.

Definitely liked the refs last night. Allowed us to play Wade physically (only 3 FTs!).

I'm really surprised there is an anti-ref thread after this game. Was Tommy ranting again? I was watching ESPN, so I wasn't exposed to the homer view of things.

I was watching ESPN and Van G, etc, thought there were a lot of bad calls as well. Rondo call on Arroyo flop, Perk mugging for Back court call, No FF call on KG take down, Rondo call for Wade running up his back, etc.... And the ESPN guys commented on all of them and even made a few home cooking comments. I'm very glad we won. The Celtics kept there heads and pulled this one out!

True.  Paul got (and still gets some calls).  I was referring to the incident where when either Paul or TA was going to dunk the ball on the break and Wade bowled into Rondo in the open court, fell back, and Rondo got hit with the foul.

That wasn't the case of superstar treatment, that was a case of stupidity from the refs.

  • Rondo = Good
I actually thought that foul on Rondo during that breakaway was legit.  Rondo clearly meant to obstruct Wade from getting to Pierce.  The way he moved his body (lowered his shoulder and braced himself) showed that he was intentionally blocking while still moving, which is not allowed.

I was watching ESPN feed as well and my interpretation of that play was Wade flopped and Salvatore purposely fell for it.

Salvatore stared the game with about 6 bogus calls against us.   And he was consistent with calling bogus calls against from there on out.

The guy was relentless.

I love these threads. We have a litany of complaints about the anti-Celtics conspiracy amongst the referees, while conveniently ignoring (save for the odd post) all the calls Miami fans could legitimately take issue with.

The homer glasses are a popular item.

Unless you are Jeff Van Gundy, who likes letting all physical play go. Of JVG was a ref, no one would ever foul out.

Quite happy that the Celtics aren't playing that OKC team in the first round.  They are playing some good basketball.  Lakers are looking pretty sluggish right now though.  OKC is very clearly out playing them.
