Sweeping Importance

Hey guys, do you guys think we should try and sweep the Heat.
Tonight is game 3, and I am hoping to see the Celtics beat the Heat. I read a couple of articles on Celticsblog about how the C's should beat them on their home court to prevent any momentum carried.

Personally I think that last year we could've beaten the Magic in a 7 game series but the Chicago series just drained too much energy from us. Fatigue probably hit us pretty hard especially Ray Allen who was hot in the Chicago series but kinda quiet in the Magic series (correct me if I'm wrong cuz i remember Ray Allen draining 3s after 3s in the Chicago game, the 51 pt game and the game winner on game 2.)

If we beat the Heat in 4 games, that leaves us more time to practice and rest before the Cleveland game. I love my celtics so I still believe we have a chance at banner 18 this year. If we knock off the Cavs who are most likely to favor to win this year, if we do that, we have a really good chance.

Oh, you definitely go for the sweep.  They should be out there playing with the intent to win every single game in these playoffs. 

If they end up having to have 5-6 days off because of a sweep, so be it.  Get these series done ASAP.  Under no circumstances should things been drawn out.

No.  Let's let them win a couple.  Wouldn't want Q-Rich and the boys to get too depressed about how badly they're overmatched.  Let's make sure this series stays competitive.

Yeah, you want to get out of the 1st round as quickly as possible. You have to scout out Cleveland as much as possible.

Chicago got a Game 3 win so perhaps they can win again in game 4 and stretch it to 6 games. That gives Boston a chance to scout Cleveland and rest up. Chicago is showing well in these playoffs again.

I'd love them to beat Miami in four, but let's face it, the hiatus could also hurt them.  I wouldn't read too much into a loss on Sunday.  The Lakers and Cavs have both lost games in the first round.  It's hardly shameful to lose one game.

In addition to other comments above - I think a sweep helps the C's confidence. Coming into the series, this was supposed to be THE matchup, with the C's "trying to dodge" Miami and get Milwaukee, b/c they feared the Heat. And there was a question if the team could turn on the switch for the playoffs. A sweep will do the psyche good.

Additionally time for the coaching staff to game plan and scout, and follow up with practices will be critical. Also this team can use rest whenever they can get it. Rivers is correctly playing Rajon Rondo (43), Ray Allen (37), and Paul Pierce (43) a lot of minutes. (Tony Allen only played 14 and Finley 4.) With the spacing in the first round this is easier, best to rest now when you can.

You absolutely go for the sweep, but it's true that a long layoff could cost us in Game 1.

But with our guys looking their freshest in months, I've got no problem with them staying rested.
