OK, I'm as excited as anyone about the Celts effort and performance tonight sans KG, and in the last 18 minutes of Game 1. It's awesome to see the C's play great basketball. But let's not go overboard with giddiness. I liked the Celtics to take the Heat in 5 in round 1. The Heat simply aren't that good, and the Celts match up well with them. They handled Miami well all year.
Anyone who's been watching this team play since Christmas had to have had some doubts entering the playoffs that they would be able to turn the much cliched "switch" on. Even without the switch on, I thought they should be able to handle the Heat. With the switch on they have dominated.
My fear was not this round. It was that the Celtics would ease past the Heat and get a false sense of security, thinking that they were back to championship level and not keep it ratcheted up against Cleveland.
I want to see the Celts continue to take care of business against the Heat, but not let it go to their heads when they get to round 2.
For now, this sure beats the alternative of sucking at home, and playing at a level where anyone can beat them. Enjoy beating the Heat, but be ready to step it up even more against the Cavs.
Let's finish round 1 quickly!
