Soooo, talking in the third person BBD said he is ready to go...or The Ticket Stub is ready to go, "Ticket Stub likes Basketball" Well, I hope he can BRING it tonight....the first game they didn't expect anything from BBD, more difficult when they expect you to be rebounder....!

Very good game by Davis. It had to be a little embarrassing with all the attention they put on him getting blocked almost 20% of his shots this year. That is unbelievable. It didn't help that he got blocked 4-5 times as they were discussing this. He DID however turn it around and play well. Good hustle, intensity. Knocked down a couple jumpers. It really was his getting to the line that made all the difference when he wasn't putting them in the basket. Keep it up Stubby.

  • GOT IT!!!
The dude stepped up when he was really needed. That impresses me more than if he would have went off unexpectedly.

Great game BBD.

Great game by Baby after the first 5 minutes. He was wreaking havoc down there.

And great move by Doc to start him over Sheed.  He was exactly what we needed to break their will early.

In the post-game presser, he started his answer with "I am the Ticket Stub, you know" to a reporter when asked about how KG would be feeling watching the game from Ainge's living-room TV set.

That part didn't even have anything to do with his actual answer. He just likes saying it.

Baby has been everything this team has needed him to be this year and maybe more except for not playing for the first 8 weeks of the season. If he hadn't hurt himself and done so in the manner that he did, we would all be declaring him this team's unsung hero. Great game by Davis and he seems just to be getting better and better. Good sign. I like it.

when baby gets minutes and has a clear role, he performs better.  he stepped up last season when kg went down and he did the exact same thing tonight.  during the season, he seemed unsure of what his role should be in the limited minutes he got, along with the signing of sheed who took minutes from him.

i hope doc plays bbd more than sheed this series.  he matches up a lot better against the heat than sheed.

Tbh, Big Baby has the tools to be solid 3rd big in the NBA, maybe even a serviceable starting PF. People were reluctant to give him money last year because of 2010 (even David Lee didn't get a contract) - in fact, NJ and MIA were looking into sign-and-trades with us in the region of near full-MLE money.

Obviously, the signing if Sheed would have hurt his confidence, and his public scolding after the "punching out his best friend" incident just added to this. Moreover, he was pigeonholed into playing like a real big in the post to accomodate for Sheed's perimeter tendencies, when in actuality Davis is a jump-shooting big himself. This screwed up his production, and got hte fanbase more incensed with him. But he actually is a very good NBA player.

I know I was extremely frustrated with him early on last night (and expressed it in the game thread) but he really kept after it and positive things started to happen.  He really energized things last night and end up playing a very solid basketball game.

I really didn't like his first half at all, even though he scored a lot of points. But they used him much better in the 2nd half, and he positioned himself in places where he could succeed. But in the first half, we should've been up by like 30 if Perk and him and Rondo would've simply looked for Ray who was freaking open the whole half at the corner. Thankfully they found him, after a while, in the 3rd quarter.

He talks about moving the ball, but I don't think he passed once last night. The ball reaches him, and he just looks to do a move against 5 other players. I've always hated this part of this game, same as I hated when Powe was doing it last year, and Perk is also doing it this year.

But like the first game, he played very well and was productive in the 2nd half. At least he got guys in foul trouble in the first half, but it worries me that they stop going to Pierce and Ray during long stretches.

TP and great post.  I think we need to temper our expecations and recall what the 1st half of the game looked like.  He also didn't pass particularly well, which was fine b/c he was going against a pathetic Miami frontline.  Other than that I like the way he was utilized in the 2nd half, and I think Kenny Smith had a great point at halftime:  Davis was doing well b/c he kept moving.  He needs to keep that up, but I'm afraid against a slower Cleveland or a bigger/taller Orlando he could suffer.
