Nate Robinson earned $1 million just by playing in the Game 1.

Shelden Williams and Nate Robinson are both playing in their first playoffs. Robinson, who played six seconds in Game 1, earned a $1 million bonus for making the playoffs.

Wish it was that easy for me :(

Breaks down to $166K per second.

I think he would have earned the money regardless of whether he played, but yeah, it's a heck of a trade bonus.

This is looking like a terrible trade for the Celtics.

I would rather have House on the bench as just a shooter in certain situations then Nate who has no such specialty.

Not going to cost the Celtics anything in the long term so can't kill them for trying.

Yeah, I understand the gamble, so I can't complain.  That being said, as you mentioned, it's worked out horribly.  Eddie would have given us equal playoff production, and he's more of a shooting specialist.  In addition, the trade cost Wyc a ton of money, and we gave up a decent prospect in Bill Walker.

Again, I can't fault Danny too much, but in hindsight, it wasn't his finest moment.

I disagree.  We now have Finley on the bench as a designated shooter.  If the C's go deeper into the playoffs, I think Nate's ball handling ability is going to be needed at some point, and House did not bring that.

I still hate Nate Robinson though.

Nate shoots a repsectable 3pt% (has been shooting better than his career average this season) though he doesn't hold the season record for 3pt% for this team and Eddie House's height granted him easier looks from midrange. Nate is a better ball-handler but he doesn't always completely gel with the rest of the team offensively, like he might take to long to bring the ball up-court and initiate an offensive set or he just plain holds the ball or dribbles too long and we lose valuable seconds on the shot-clock.

I think Doc will go Daniels for that before Nate at this point.

I wouldn't have minded having both Finley and House as shooters off the bench.

Need a three, play Ray, Pierce, Finley, House and Wallace.

Yeah, it didn't work though I feel more comfortable having Nate as a PG in case Rondo is unavailable for whatever reason. From what Doc has said Tony would probably start but Robinson would get some minutes in that situaation.

I love the shortened rotation but at some point we will need Nate Robinson in these playoffs. Eventually teams will pressure Tony Allen the backup point guard. Not saying the trade was a win for us but it also will not be a total loss.

No wonder he wanted to be traded to a playoff contender!  ;D

i do love nate's emotion on the bench. he could sulk about not playing but he is very emotional on the bench, into every basket. remember house was buried on the bench in the 2008 playoffs at times, but when his number was called, he was ready. perhaps the same thing will happen to nate.

The point of this trade was to get rid of Eddie House.

He was a major liability on the defensive end and his shot wasn't falling nearly enough to make it worth it.  His shot has only gotten worse in NY.

He also could not be relied on as a backup PG in case of an injury to Rondo.

Nate Rob can run the point better, defend better, and shoot better (this season at least), as well as do nearly everything else better than Eddie House.

And we have his bird-rights I believe.  If we can turn him into something this offseason, or resign him, this could turn out to be a great trade as he is a much more valuable asset than House.

No...the point of this trade was to GET Nate Robinson.  Problem is, according to Doc's strategy of managing people he's been an apparent disappointment.

Let's not create folklore here...Eddie was a GREAT guy and an outstanding teammate.  This was the hopes of getting Nate on this team but it didn't work out.

Nate Robinson's 3 pt % here: 41%
Eddie Houses's 3 pt % here: 38%

Defensively, they are equal liabilities.

I think even if Eddie were here, TA would still be in the backup point role.
