Best thing that could of happened is if the Celtics carried over that last quarter and a half play over to the rest of the playoffs.



Now, they have to do it without the defensive leader.

This could be a gelling experience for the team, or it could exemplify the wheels coming off a once-great squad.  Basically if we win and do well going forward it'll be the former, and if we lose and crash out of the playoffs it'll be the latter.  Really depends on how the team responds to adversity tomorrow night.

While I agree that these types of situations can prove to be galvanizing for a team searching for some chemistry this whole season, doing it without KG will be extremely tough in a VERY important game 2.

Sheed can earn his whole paycheck this year in this one game if he comes up big.

Yup! You can argue this is exactly what we got him for. The unforseen circumstance that KG isnt available. We need him in this game more than we have or will going forward.

This game can go a long ways in my Sheed forgiveness which will undoubtedly take years to complete.

Just think we got 2 more years of Sheed.  But to the point he can do a lot to get some of us back in his good graces.

i said this in another thread yesterday:

this could be a blessing in disguise that we can use for the entire postseason.  if we come out and win game 2 without kg and have a chip on our shoulder, it might just give us the motivation that we have been lacking.

obviously i want kg playing, but sometimes when a major player goes down for whatever the reason, teams step up

Somebody in another thread said this could be Sheed's JD Drew $14 million home run.  I wouldn't go that far but it could be a start.

I haven't looked at the numbers at all but it seems like Sheed's played better when starting than coming off the bench.  If he plays smart and efficient offense, goes after rebounds, and plays good D, we won't see much of a drop off from KG.  Lot of ifs there, though.

I am not so sure EJ. I kind of think that if this team is healthy, the Heat might just have awoken a sleeping giant with a big chip on it's shoulder. Tough mean SOBs that hang out at bars and get into fights mellow with age sometimes. But that doesn't mean when someone pushes them too far they still can't be that tough mean SOB they used to be.

Only getting into the fight will determine if they win it though. That second half defense the other night, we have seen that before. Tomorrow night should be a good indicator of whether they still have that championship punch and counterpunch left in them for a long period of time.

I wouldn't say it's the best thing. It could be a good thing but seeing how unpredictable the team has been all season motivation-wise I have no idea what it'll be. Hopefully this will light a fire under them to get the series over sooner than later.
