I don't know, for me the crowds are no where near what they were back in the early 2000's.  It's getting to the point where, from an entertainment standpoint, I prefer to watch the Celts on the road where at least the opposing crowd brings energy to the game.  Games at the Garden tend to feel boring, and tonight was much of the same despite being a close out game.  Even Gorman commented on it a couple of times.

If I wasn't a Celts fan or Heat fan, I wouldn't have watched it.  Back in the early part of the decade we sounded a lot like the OKC crowds (check the videos at the beginning of the thread).  Today, dare I say, we sound worse than staples.

I know the TV broadcast drowns out the noise to an extent, but they don't distort the video, and I see a full stadium sitting on their hand for the vast majority of the game.  For some reason I don't think their blowing the roof off the place from their seats.  Beyond killing the atmosphere of what should be great playoff basketball, I don't think any opposing teams are intimidated of playing in the Garden.

I really think it is just the band wagon C's fans that sit in the first level that only go because it is a thing to do that look terrible and are terrible fans, mostly, but that the balcony fans and hardcore and really into the games standing up and cheering.

This is what I'm theorizing on, because I have not been to a game in more then two years, and they usually do not show the balcony much at the Celtics games.

Bruins crowds are by far better then Celtics crowds now.

When the Bruins score you really can see the crowd going nuts and waving their gold towels during the games.

Yeah, I agree with you.  The Bruins crowd hasn't been infested with the corporate suits and bandwagon fans.  I dunno if they'll get to that point because hockey doesn't draw in the casual fan as much the other sports.  It's just the irony of ironies, that when we finally get a good product, the die hard fans who stuck with the team through everything were rewarded by being priced out and consequently did away with a homecourt advantage.

Yeah... The Garden has stepped up...

But for the Bruins and not for the Celtics.

Not that I'm complaining though, completely, because I am a huge Bruins fan too...

But please Garden fans step up for the C's too!

And glad to hear that you are PierceMVP08.

And I want you to do this, and promise me this, that you will get everybody sitting near you to step up and get off their asses and start cheering for the C's like they never have before!

I'm up to it man.  Although it seems every time i go to a game i get someone yelling at me to sit down.  If only we could get a section reserved for CB members, a la Bogut's section in Milwaukee.  You need a group to get something going.  Who's with me!?

If I can get tickets for game 3 I definitely am, but that isn't all that likely, unfortunately.  And next time a guy tells you to sit down, tell him you have the right to cheer how you want and tell him to start standing up and cheering!

Not saying I disagree, but one goal in hockey is a pretty big deal.

No you are completely right about that Redz, but I still believe that the crowds are a million times better at the Bruins games.

Well the thing is, basketball is a sport where you should cheer throughout.  I'm not a hockey fan so i've watched only bits and pieces of the B's games, and for the most part the crowds are subdued because there arent that many chances to cheer. But when they do... oh boy

The celtics did their job in getting the split in Cleveland.  Now its time for the fans to bring it.  I paid over a hundred bucks for last row balcony seats to game three... That place better be rocking!  To pull of this series would be the most improbable series victory of the new big three era.  We are the underdogs, we just got a huge win on the road, this is Lebron James and the number one seeded Cavs, the game is on a friday night.  There is NO EXCUSE not have a frenzied crowd for this one.  Not to mention there is three days to build anticipation for this game.  I'd be lucky not to explode from excitement before friday.

LETS GO FANS!

I'm sure the Garden will be very very active.  Playoff crowds are totally different than regular season crowds.  I went to one playoff game last year verse the Magic and it's the loudest game I've been too so far (out of about 18 regular season games).  I'm going on Friday for my one playoff game this year, and I'm sure it will be loud.  If it isn't at least I will be.

Well boston playoff crowds are certainly not what they used to be.  Let's hope we can bring them back.

Guys, this is very important.

Someone create a facebook group.  Tell Jeff to put this on the front page.  Wake up Bill Simmons.

Our crowd is the only way we can win this series.  Period.  We have to win all three in Boston - I firmly believe that.

We need a crowd like we had in 02 and 03 (I agree those were better crowds than our 2008 crowd sans Game 6 Finals.)

We had all sorts of chants then, everything.  We need chants again.  Bill Simmons suggested chanting New-York-Knicks when LeBron was at the line.  That would be great.

But EVERYONE needs to make noise.  We have 3 days to put to something together.  It is up to us who will be attending games to make noise.  We have a huge impact on the game.

But someone, please, do something.  Get the word out, twitter, facebook, front page here, etc -- WE HAVE TO BE AS LOUD AS EVER, especially for the critical Game 3.

If we have a crowd like Cleveland did, we will lose.  We have to be louder than we were against Miami.  Louder than ever.

I love everything you just said but the only problem is how do we get the info to the people who are actually at the game.  We can post this all over but i feel like 60-70% of people at the games are only there just to be there and don't much follow the team when they're not at the game.  Hence, they won't be reading a Celtics blog or anything.

I completely agree that the crowd could take us to these victories.  Maybe we should create of rules (or guidelines) for proper fan behavior at a game.  My first rule would be "NEVER tell a fellow Celtics fan to sit down!  No one blocks your view at home.  If you dont' want to get up an cheer, your living room is a safer enviroment.

I will be at the GARDEN for game 3, and you can rest assured I will be as loud as possible.  Any phony in the crowd who tells me to sit down will be told to stand up or shut up.  I want the place rockin' like never before!  Nothing bothers me more than "fans" who attend a game, especially a playoff game, and sit on their hands.
