This is interesting, looks like the Heat might be tanking tonight against the Nets (is this even possible?) by not playing Wade, Haslem, O'neal (http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_basketball_heat/ and http://twitter.com/IraHeatBeat) in the hopes that the Celts will do the same vs. the Bucks setting them up with a more favorable matchup with the Hawks in the 3 vs. 6. I know the Heat are 3-1 vs. the Hawks this season but I would much rather play the Celts right now based on their recent ugly performance.  As for the Celts, I see no reason to play the starters tonight.  A matchup with the Bucks would be better, although I'm nervous about the Celts against any team at this point.  Will we see extended Scal or even Tony Gaffney minutes tonight?

Agreed don't play the starters. Why take a chance on injury?

No idea why the Heat would rather play the Hawks than the Celts.  I think it's more likely they just want to rest their starters.

I have no complaints we're better off facing the short-handed Bucks. Wade can beat us by himself (by by himself I do include the refs, lol), Jennings can't. I'd also like a chance at the the 19th pick and a good prospect so I wouldn't mind a lost today since we're already locked into the 4th.

Especially when we recently beat them already.

Our seeding is locked in, rest everyone.

Well, I'd rather the Celtics put forth Max Effort, but I am certainly concerned about the Bucks physical play from our last game with them.

Last thing I want to see is an Overly-Physical Stackhouse take out our Captain. He nearly laid Pierce out in Milwaukee just to try to send a message.

Why not?

If the lay down, they might end up playing the Bucks who will be upset that the Celtics wanted to play them.  (Think Dallas and GS a few years ago)

It sure doesn't, because if the Celtics win the Bucks are not a 1st round playoff opponent... Mathematically speaking.

And if the Celtics and Miami both lose?

I don't want us to tank, I just see no need to play our starters. Especially since we just played hard last night.

Then it's the Bucks in the 1st round. I believe...

Was also thinking of the GSW-Dal scenario, if the Celts obviously give a non-effort, it may fire the Bucks up even more.  Doubt this will matter though, since the Heat may not play their starters but still likely win at home against woeful Nets.

Exactly.  Just rest up for the playoffs when they start this weekend.  If we face MIL again, so be it.  Tonight's not really gonna send a message.  Its basically meaningless to us.  More harm than good could come out of it in the form of injuries.  Don't show 'em anything.
