I remember saying in a post that the problem with this team is that the Big 3 are not consistent anymore. In the rare event that one goes off, the other two throw up a stinker. The games in which two of our stars were on fire were ones where we dominated.

But today against Chicago. Pierce was on fire. Ray was on fire. KG had a very solid performance. We still lost.

Rondo was our worst offensive player, and our worst defensive player. If he doesn't bring it in the playoffs, this team will have serious trouble going anywhere, no matter how well the Big 3 play.

Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing?  :-\

TP. I've been saying for a while now that Rondo is the key to this team succeeding .... I'm not saying that he's the best player on this team, just that we need him to play well in order for us to win consistently. He's the guy who distributes the ball and sets the tempo and energy for the game ... he's the pivot-point that the rest of the team revolves around, and as goes Rondo, so goes the team.

No, today`s performance is a proof of how overrated he is! Especially defensively! I know with today`s rules it is really hard to stay in front of quick PG`s  but only  going for steals isn`t good defense to me.

I am sick and tired of Rondo˙s inconsistency. He has a bad mentality, when he is on he is great, when he is off he is below average. To have a guy like that at PG position is a big liability for a team.

I am already afraid of the playoffs when we play half court teams where his inability to shoot will again kill this team offensively. The big three aren`t good enough anymore to win games for us playing 4 on 5 on offense...

Rondo needs to run every time he gets the ball if the game is slow he is just an average PG...

That's what I've been saying now for months about Rondo! He got schooled by Rose all night. Let's grab a beer and talk more about it (lol)

I'm not saying Rajon is good or bad. I'm just saying that when he underperforms the team underperforms and vice-versa. Basically, as Rondo goes, the team goes.

That's why I want him to be consistent. If he's good consistently, we can win games consistently.

A mediocre performance by Rondo and we probably would have won going away.....

Only in Boston is a prolific YOUNG point guard not allowed to have a dud game.

Because he has only had 1 bad game the whole season, right. He is just too inconsistent and has a dud game almost every week.

With the way this team has been playing that doesn`t say much but at this point in his career I would expect him to be more consistent.

His moody personality is influencing his game way too much, If he feels good he will have a great game but if he is in a bad mood he will be terrible. It is time he overgrows this and plays with effort every time...

Rondo was actually solid defensively last night. One gamble cost him the and-1, but the other gambles ended up in a missed fga. The team has to do a better job of defending the pick and roll because that's where about 30 of Rose's 39 came from.

And I thought on offense it was his job to facilitate. He has a weird situation where he has to keep the big 3 happy and get them their looks and then people go after him when he defers to them. Tough shoes to be in. I do wish he would be more aggressive in end of clock situations. He can put pressure on anybody with his dribble and speed, but seems to enjoy dribbling around the perimeter for 5 seconds and hoisting jumpers instead.

Last night, Rondo was solid as a passer, mediocre defensively and terrible shooting the ball.  Rose's block party had something to do with the last bit, but some of it was just Rondo being off.

Anyways, I agree with the OP, although I'd say that Rondo is co-MVP with Garnett.  Pierce and Ray are very capable of scoring, but they generate most of their opportunities for themselves.  When Rondo and KG are aggressive and effective, they can lead a team attack with their playmaking and spillover defensive energy.  Pierce can do some of that, too, but not as frequently.

I think we all would have expected Rondo to perform like he did last year's playoffs against the Bulls.
