Playoffs are right around the corner. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty darn excited. Allow me to provide the hope that this board has been lacking for the past few months...

I know I might be asking for a little too much on this one, but I wanna see our team give it their all against EVERY team they face. I wanna see the Celts give at least a slight glimmer of their old selves. And by that, I mean unleashing that aggressive, intimidating defensive presence that teams were scared of two years ago and maybe even for a small portion of last year.

I firmly believe that we can make it to the ECF's at the very least, if not, even the actual NBA Finals. We are fully capable of taking down the elite teams; we've done it before this season. The talent is there but for whatever reason, we've been lacking in heart, effort and passion as of late; three key components required to win a championship and three things that propelled us to success in the '07-'08 season.

Realistically, I believe we've got what it takes. A match-up with Milwaukee is looking more and more realistic, and we'd for sure have no problem with them come first round. I'm a bit concerned for our well-being in the 2nd round but like I said earlier, we've beaten the elite teams before this season. If we actually make it to the ECF's, there's no doubt in my mind that we'd be capable to make it to the Finals.

Hopefully, this has motivated you fans enough to get you hyped for the Playoffs and if not, just watch these videos...

Here's to our Celts taking care of business come the Playoffs!

I've forgotten how truly beautiful it was to see 3 such deserving players literally reach the top...clinched their dreams.  It's very rare to get the opportunity to see consummate professionals who are also unbelievable personalities in their MOMENT, when they ARRIVE...you see the true colors and the real measure of their personalities.  When the Big 3 won it all in 2008,  I saw an intensity of passion I hadn't seen in sports (or anywhere else for that matter) in years.  Combine the personal aspects of it with the storied history of this franchise, this sport, and this city...and (here comes the blubbering)..."sniffle", "sniffle"...

tears fall.

It's funny because that moment after game 6 of the finals, with each of the Big 3 celebrating in their own various styles seems so long ago.

It wasn't so long ago though.  This same team NOW shows flashes of that brilliance from 2008...usually against the best teams, but just not 100% of the time.

I see no reason that this team can't play like this for 4 out of 7 games of any given series.  We've got to remember, it only takes 4 games to win, and the Celtics HAVE proven to do one thing VERY well this season...play on the road.  If there is ANY one thing that championship contenders in the past have done well with, it is having played well on the road.  I would even argue that this is more important than the ability to consistently beat the best teams (due to the various problems with injury and lineup shifts).  Road warriors win in this league.

It continues to blow my mind that the Celtics have one of the best road records in the NBA.  If that doesn't tell you that their problems are mainly focus/mental, then I don't know what does.  If a team can win on the road, they can clearly win at home, and I think the playoff crowd and atmosphere will finally kick them up a notch at home.  They WILL finally focus and concentrate on the moment at hand and not assume they have the game in the bag.  In 2008 and 2009 they certainly didn't.

I expect to see the intensity of the 08' playoff run, but without the uncertainty and doubt that lingered throughout. Don't we all remember how nerve-wracking those first two 7 games series were?  Phew.

I expect to see the heart of the 09' run, but without the lingering sense of inevitable doom that was present throughout in not having KG around.  Don't we all remember how improbable we thought getting past Chicago was at one point...and then Orlando?  Surely we didn't think they could beat Cleveland, but we imagined in our heads the epic battle that would play itself out in the 3rd round....sadly though, it wasn't to be.

Finally, I expect to see the flashes of brilliance amongst this team's newest leaders, Perk and Rondo.  I think they will really shine, and they'll show us things in the playoffs that we had only previewed in select games during the regular season.  In other words, watch out for the perfect storm of veteran focus and youthful statement....a strong knowledge of how to win against the best, combined with the desire to prove your game and establish your presence on the ultimate stage.  Just look at KG paired with Rondo.  Those two epitomize these respective traits, and not surprisingly it is when they play well TOGETHER that this team clicks on all cylinders.  All of a sudden, Ray Ray and the Truth play their roles to perfection, and the rest of the team falls into place.  Perk, Sheed and Baby work together to stop the league's best bigs, while Nate and TA provide the youthful ying to Finley's experienced veteran yang.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm excited about all of this!
It all starts in less than a week baby!!!
Let's get down to business.
As KG always says on TV

What I wouldn't give for that team again.

I miss Posey, Eddie and Leon ... but we're still the same core team, with the same attitude and talent. I hope Doc makes the team watch these ... especially the celebration of the Finals win ... all they're missing is the hunger, the desire ... and it's still there within each one of them, the trick is bringing it to the surface again ... unleashing the beast! Come ON Celtics ... I KNOW you can do it!

Man, seeing that last video... Almost brought tears to my eyes.. I'll never forget the day, my sister and I watching this game and texting and calling everyone what happened as if it was the end of the world or something...

Loved the part where Powe told KG he had him... Almost forgot hearing that on live tv that very day. I miss the closeness that this team had. Ubuntu was so real and not just a word. It was a brotherhood...

If only to see this type of thing again.. That desire and want..
Yeeeaaaa!!!

Nice Post, Hype. TPs all around.

This team can still do it. A few weeks ago, NickAgneta reminded us about the Celtics Season from 1968-69.

There is always hope. Many of us here still believe.

The good thing is that this rough regular season is behind us. We have all the horses back healthy, TA, Glen, Marquis.

We have new horses in Nate and Finley.

Sheed will prove himself.

Let the Games Begin!!

I peeled the remainder of the 2008 Celtics Championship bumper sticker off of my car the other day.  It had been coming off by itself for months, but I hung on to it for sentimental reason. I finally put it out of its unsightly misery.  All that's left is the residue from where it once was.

Interesting when you get a real life metaphor to observe.

I was wondering why my 2008 championship Tee that i wear as a bed(night) shirt started to get a few holes in it when i took it from the last wash/dry.Its almost like it has a shelf life to it.But now i get it...its time to win another championship.

Defeating CLE will certainly send ripples through that organization.

There is no way that Lebron will come back to try to do it all over again.

Two straight seasons of 60+ wins for CLE and no title?

Celtics can do it! Put forth same effort as the MIA series, and even though CLE will be a much tougher opponent I love our opportunity here.

And just like that, we're a couple games away from going to the Finals. Brace yourself guys, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
