Any team or player that doesn't play to win every game, should not be playing at all. Throwing a game, to me, is like lying, and not only demonstrates a major lack of character and integrity, but sets a bad example and precident for the momentum going into the playoffs. I would have no respect for this team if they did what is suggested here.

While the Celts aren't in this situation, I don't agree that not playing to win every game amounts to throwing games. You need to have a long term strategy, and that frequently means giving minutes to younger players to develop them as opposed to playing veterans who are currently better.

... and purposefully handicapping your chances to win so that you get a better shot at landing Duncan, Oden, or Durant. ;)

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

  • You say when......
Well unless the matchups are already set in stone, I'd say play to win, play to get the team together, rythem (why can't i spell that word?), chemistry, and toughen up to face whoever we get.....if the matchups are already set, well, then we can go at it differently, avoid a Wes Welker thing...if the last games mean nothing, then use them to sort of practice "real time"..run plays and matchups that you wish you could use later, best time to try those is against another team that isn't compliant with your dreams....see if the REALLY can work......just a thought...

It is Rythym. Celtics need their energy pattern to be completely revised by this weekend. I think they think that they start off at O-0 and go from there.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

At this point, Paul, Rondo, KG and Perk need to not play a single minute tomorrow night.

Whatever happens happens but a loss really is in this teams overall best interests at this point in time.

I wonder which feeling would be worse right now. Having sat our starters for rest purposes and having our bench lose to the Bulls, or going out and trying to win the game and getting beat by the Bulls?!

Stupid move. We should have sat our guys and had our bench play the whole game. Rondo was embarrassed by Rose again, no one built any rythm, and we still have an L in the column.
