Jeez, why no timeout by Denver?

Why did it take the announcers so long to realize he wasn't goofing around?

Weird reactions all around.
Yup

Wow, kinda-of-a bummer that the Nuggets weren't awarded that short-handed basket because they played pretty good D while the Thunder ran their impromptu power play. I'm kinda hoping that the Nuggets win the #2 seed and that Kenyon Martin comes back fresh from his injury by some point during their playoff run; I was hoping this year they might finally beat the Lakers.   ???

At first it looks like he's just laying there, but they should havve noticed his eyes were closed. It's understandable that the announcers and fans might not have noticed he was out, but for someone on the court it inexcusable. Just another situation that proves that NBA refs are blind.

Looks JR Smith also thought Anthony was just frustrated by the non-call. Watch his reaction after he gets called for a travel. He points to Anthony on the floor and seems more concerned as to explain that he traveled because Melo was on the ground instead of being worried that...Melo was on the ground.

Everyone missed it. The Nuggets players when they got the steal and Adrian Dantley, being so upset, should've screamed for a TO the second the Nuggets had possession.

Plenty of blame to go around.

If the refs were uncertain if he was goofing around or not should have stopped play and warned for delay of game not allowed the game to proceed.  With the warning of delay of game they could have time to see he wasn't faking.

Wow. I hope he is ok.  My second favorite team sure has had it's share of difficult life situations to deal with lately.

A bit ridiculous that the Denver bench didn't call a timeout immediately as is the norm when your player gets hurt.

The real question is:

Why wasn't he called for a 3 second violation when the Nuggets got the ball back?

If they're letting them play on the assumption that he was goofing around or something, could there be a more obvious call then a guy literally camping out in the key?
Yup

Refs where monumentally bad this season. Especially in the latter part of it.

And not just against the Celtics or anything, it was an "all around" kinda thing.

TP Redz indeed btw, rofl :D

What are the refs suppose to do in this situation?

Is there a rule in place where they can stop play because of an injury?  I feel like there is, I feel like the refs are always quick to stop play with injuries.. but I could be wrong.

I think melo was genuinely hurt here although I doubt he was hurt so much that he couldnt get up or open his eyes.

Although they over use it in soccer, this is one of those cases where the opposing team would just throw the ball away and let the trainer take a look at him.  This is one thing that I respect soccer.  It doesn't matter if it's USA vs Iran, they'll throw the ball away the instant that they see somebody hurt.
