I gotta admit... even though I haven't watched the game tonight... if I were Doc, I'd play the starters during these last minutes. Rub their noses in the crap they've created.  Let them soak in the boos....

The bench deserves a lot of blame for tonight's masterpiece too.

Yeah, it was the bench that gave up that 19-0 run. The worst +/- rates on the team are BBD and Finley. Shelden actually was the best.  Sheed was comparitively pretty good, ironically.

Thanks guys. I just assumed from the box score that the starters were mostly to blame.

Taking Nate out of the bench rotation is a mistake. The C's need to role the dice with his hot/cold offense. He's our new Eddie House, and I want him to have the Eddie green light. The bench needs a freaking scoring punch.

My quote from the end of the Toronto game thread the other night.

Seriously though, would a loss to Washington at home surprise any of us? Anyone?

You really could see this coming from a mile away.

Simmons had an interesting tweet during the game tonight.  He asked if he could get odds on "Rivers and Jeff Van Gundy switching jobs this summer".

Personally I'd be all for that.  I think Rivers has been here too long and he's lost the team.  They need a new voice.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Round 1 could get ugly.

I think it might happen but not a direct switch. E.g. JVG will go to a team with a brighter future.

We lost KG's voice, not Doc's.  That's the voice that has to be replaced.

Doc just said in his press conference that he takes the blame for
tonight, because he gave the team yesterday and today's shootaround off, and that it killed their rhythm.

i know the players need rest, but like everyone else, i want the 3rd seed, and finish these last 3 games strong.

About three minutes left on the clock.  Down 15 or something like that.

Doc puts the bench in - Shelden, Davis, TA, Daniels and Nate.  For the next few minutes, I saw something that I haven't seen this entire year out of the starting unit - urgency.  They came in and played like it was a Game 7, even though in reality it was the last few minutes of a meaningless game that they had no realistic chance of winning.  Didn't matter.  They used the full press, attacked the rim, and created general chaos.

Just once, I'd like to see the starters as a group attack a team like this.  You see it from individual players every now and then - usually Rondo - but never do you see them come out as a unit with the intention to destroy a team.

I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction:  this team will need Nate at some point in the playoffs if they make a deep run.  TA can bring energy and defense, Davis and Shelden can bring hustle and rebounds, Finley can shoot and Sheed can play in the post, but nobody on the bench comes into the game with the single-minded intent to put the ball in the basket that he brings when Doc cuts him loose.  I'm not necessarily advocating the blind chucking that he did tonight, but at some point somebody is going to have to score points in a hurry, and he may well be the most explosive scorer on the team.

Does anyone remember the beginning of the season....When Doc changed the practice routine---to let the guys SLEEP in?....seems to have affected us a BIT.

OK - what now? Do we shut down the starters to give them a week of rest? We could shut down all the main players, let MIL get the 5th seed, then meet them round 1.

Shut Down Rondo, and play everybody else.
play the Vets playoff minutes, so they can start getting into "playoff minutes rhythm".

Clearly the problem is not rest, the problem is rhythm.

The Vets need to take the rest of the games of the reg. season, and expect an increase in minutes, and play to establish or find a rhythm.

The only player that should be shut down is Rondo.

Because if he gets hurt in these last few games, then there's no point of showing up to play at    the playoffs. w/o rondo.

The latest in a long list of nominees for worst home performance of 2009/10. Happened way too many times now.

Once again, I feel for all you guys at the games being force fed this crap.

Time for more Nate and more Shelden, play some guys who might actually make an effort. Disgusting performance tonight, the fans deserve better.
