Enough with this, enough with Pierce slow and clumsy iso plays, he cant do it anymore at a high level, run the play through Ray Allen for a shot and let the play run through that as a first option. Getting the ball down low isnt working anymore. Garnett cant jump. Rondo cant really shoot, or hesitates to much. What worked in 2007 08 isnt working now, the plays have to be tweaked

Yeah..but this Doc(tor) doesn't like tweaking anything...he likes the band-aid approach.  ;D

Yep, the Iso's need to go. Move the freaking ball. Even in the last 2 minutes, this team will only win if they play within themselves, and move the ball.

When guys are moving, setting screens, cutting, moving the ball, Pierce is still a major load on offense. But in the iso.... yeah those days are over. He might win a game here and there that way, but not a series.

Unknown? No kidding, considering it's Barron.

Yeah, I mean I just don't get the concept of.....or rather, it should just be common sense that if a player hasn't blown by his defender ALL game long, why would you isolate that player on the possession to potentially win the game??

Where's the logic?

I don't think it's that.  I just don't think his feet are as quick as they used to be.  Also, 9 shots is just not acceptable for Ray Allen tonight.  He was shooting well, was 6/9, just see no reason why more shots weren't found for him.
do it

Yeah, against Houston he looked back at Doc and didn't even know what play he was running and then took a terrible turnaround shot, then against Cleveland he had a great kickout pass to Ray for three, and then this game he got stuck under the basket and tried to give a one handed pass to KG.

That is 2 out of the last 3 times game that Paul has been unsuccessful in the clutch with the iso.

He has to either drive to the basket, make the shot or get fouled.  Or do his faceup pattented elbow jumpshot that he used to always make, but never even does it now.

Or have a kickout pass like he did to Ray, but he has to be under control and the passing lane has to be clear (unlike tonight when he tried to kick it out to KG).

That's what happens when we don't move the ball around and the offense isn't flowing.

In his prime Pierce was one of the best iso players i have ever seen... But now, not so much. He's gotten old and needs to change his game up. When he jumps, he doesnt have enough lift anymore. He doesnt finish as well anymore either, yet he is still better driving to the basket then pulling up for the fall away.

His iso's are definitely distrupting the flow of the offense. When Pierce has the ball everyone just stands around. The other night against the Cavs, they hardly gave the ball to Ray (who had the hottest hand) and what happened...There was no offense.
Ray needs more touches, and Pierce needs to work together. He gets his most points slashing, making cuts, and hitting those open threes. The jump shooting is just getting so old.

I have been saying this for years.  Great Post.  It drives me crazy.

I've been tired of the iso. It doesn't matter who is doing the isolating. It stagnates the offense when we do it for multiple possession at a time and makes us easy to defend.

Re Paul: when he's not fully healthy it's just not a high % shot. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to let him get position and throw him the ball instead of giving him the ball above the 3 point line and making him work to get to his sweet spot.

That said I don't want to work of Ray every play either because that makes also the offense predictable. Diversity to utilize all our offensive weapons is what we need.
