I just want to issue a plea to all of you to patch up your bad blood with each other. Who ever it may be or what ever. I feel like it's not that big of an issue but it needed to be addressed either way. It seems like there is quite obviously a split between the "realist/let's blow up the team and rebuild" crew and the "head in the clouds/we're going to win it all no matter what" crew. Not only that but because of this it seems tensions are running high all together, the littlest disagreement seems to spawn a huge argument. When I first joined CB it seemed that there was always a strong sense of comradery, let's get it back. We all have something in common here, we love the Celtics. Let's come together people.

As a disclaimer: I'm not speaking with anyone in particular in mind, this is just a general observation of things. Thank you ;)

You know, I have always hated that song. I don't know why but it just bounces off my lil ears.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand.  We may not all agree, but difference of opinion is good, not bad...makes you think.  On a personal level I like most of the posters on this blog, although I may not agree with them.  I do agree with you that we all love the Celtics (except maybe for a few trolls), but I think we have all come together here already, although coming from different backgrounds, places in our lives, and ideas.  I find it refreshing that we are all individuals.  Maybe it is because I am from a large family, and we never agreed on anything....so, enlighten me please as to your meaning.

I completely agree with you, differences in opinion are what makes this blog (and the world) great. It would be okay if we were civilly discussing our difference of opinion but that's not what we're doing here. At least not for the most part. We're bickering like 5 year old children who haven't gotten their way.

For example:
http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=36614.30

Arguing over whether or not it is just to call LeBron "King" James, Queen, is bickering. Calling LeBron Queen, is not childish, nor is it sexist. It is a pun, it's what fans do.

Jeter sucks.
A-Rod blows... (Bubble gum)

I have no problem with homosexuals... it's just a pun.

I agree that the blog is great because of the variance of opinions... but arguing over what nicknames can and can't be used for opposing players... that just is not needed.

EDIT: I am in no way trying to drag out that argument, don't want it to appear that way... that's just an example of the annoying bickering going on.

OK.  I see what you mean.   :-\  Now I am going to pull my "Old Lady" rank and suggest that you simply don't play the game.  I may think that the thread is useless, and you may think the thread is obnoxious, but you and I don't have to follow the thread.  The staff does a pretty good job, I think, of stepping in before  things get personal or nasty.  There is so much good stuff on the site, why waste your time on a childish thread?  If you think something doesn't conform to the posting rules (see the box on the upper right of your screen for posting rules) please report it to the staff (I think there is an "Action" box under each post.)  Enjoy the Blog, and keep posting!

This kind of stuff is what moderators are for, and I think we have an extraordinary group that keeps this kind of thing in check, and limits the amount of venomous discourse being discussed here. In other words, why fix it if it ain't broke? ;)

Sorry....it is the "report to Moderator" message

My response to what you said about "You and I don't have to follow the thread" is that what if I want to follow the thread for what it is... "LeBron in the Celtics Huddle"? I don't think the thread was childish before that little argument. Anybody who actually wants to discuss the topic at hand shouldn't have to go through a whole page of two posters yelling at each other. Saying "Just don't follow the thread" is not a good enough remedy for me.

As far as your "Report to Moderator" suggestion... I'm giving you a TP for that because I can see you are truly trying to help out. Thanks a lot TBoots!

Sorry Matt, I didn't look far back enough into the thread.  Hate it when a thread gets hijacked.  By the way...I enjoyed your pics at the Garden.  I have been to the old Garden many times, and hope to see a game at the "new" garden some day.

I think it's always a good idea to show a little more civility.  It's always good to contact the mod staff to help mediate disputes, but there are also steps that everyone can take to keep things a little more friendly here.

Some tips: take deep breaths.  Remember, it's only a blog, and should be for recreation.  It's a real person you're conversing with, rather than a faceless computer screen, so remember that they've got feelings, as well.  It's okay to walk away from disputes, and if somebody attacks you, it's perfectly acceptable to just move on, rather than defending your honor.  Overall, just be courteous and respectful.

All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino

I have a suggestion. If there is a side argument going on in forums which is a big part of the OP's beef I believe, why dont those two posters finish the discussion via PM? That way, they can hash out their differences while other posters can continue debating the topic without having to read through someone's argument.

It's called taking a conversation offline if it is neither appropriate nor productive for the conversation at hand. It works quite well.

Of course this would be on the participants to take the initiative to do so but it would help out a lot IMO.
