This is a great test for the Celtics TEAM defense on Kevin Durant.

Vintage Celtics defense could neutralize Durant a bit because of Kevin Garnett who in his prime may be the only guy in the league who could guard Durant. He is big enough to challenge his shots and was (is?) quick enough to stay in front of him.

I would like to see what KG does if he is left on an island with Durant tonight

Tough without the captain, but we need to play well regardless.  Wish I could say that playing at home helped us in some way.

Is it offficial that Pierce won't play?

[dang]... I want him to rest but it's frustrating to get bitten by the injury bug once again after a short break (Perk comes back, Pierce goes out, ugh). Plus, we needed Perk badly against the Spurs and now we need Pierce to guard Durant but he is not available. Bummer.

Anyway, we really need this one to keep our advance on the Hawks (this is the only time this season I'm rooting for a Lakers win :P), I hope we show the Thunder the "old veteran tricks" once again like earlier in the season.

I would like to see Marquis fill up for Pierce and regain his confidence. I will catch the replay tomorrow but this is definitely an exciting game.

TP FL and go C's!!

So who covers Durant w/ PP out?  That leave us with TA on the floor for most of the game?

No, it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes for Durant to foul TA out.   ;D  Then it'll probably be Finley on the floor, which won't be pretty either.

I'd like to see Maynor get some burn.  He's apparently hit the rookie wall, but he's the kind of backup PG I'd like to see the Cs get.

At this stage of his career, that'd be like leaving a box of Twinkies on an island with Big Baby.

As long as i can find a feed, I'm looking forward to seeing what Durant can do (outside of watching highlights).

If the Celtics actually go inside to KG and Sheed, even Perk, they should have an advantage. If those 2 seven footers keep tip toeing 18-25 feet from the basket, the C's are at a disadvantage.

  • GOT IT!!!
Without Pierce I expect a tough close game. The C's need to make this a slow half court contest. This is a game in which Sheed and Perk can dominate. Durant will get his but the C's need to keep Westbrook and Green in check.

I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about this game.

No Pierce and only Marquis Daniels, Tony Allen or Michael Finley to try to keep Kevin Durant in check.

Gonna route for the team until my lungs hurt but I still don't have a good feel about thus game. Like being blown out bad.

FWIW, Paul Pierce, in game shorts, walked onto the court for the C's pregame walkthrough. We'll find out his status for sure later.

Interesting. Doubt he would press the issue of playing while injured AGAIN after admitting the mistake he made last time. Truth is, I just don't have a lot of faith in the training staff to make these decisions at this point.

I have had stingers in football, though, and they really only hurt for a few minutes. They tend to happen in bunches after the initial contact.

I'm thinking that everyone else will step up tonight with Paul out.

Pierce is in. Celtics favored by 3.

Hope Rondo gets up for his matchup.
