I just thought it could be fun to see what are the C's fans' superstitions before games and during games, and what they do or avoid to do in order to prevent the team from losing. Of course, these habits don't impact the game's result anyway but we can think they do because, hey... they're superstitions. :P

The thing that I did first but stopped during the course of the season, was to play the C's game of the day on 2K10 before it was actually played. But everytime I did it, the C's lost the game (or so it looked like) so I stopped, and also by a lack of time/motivation.

But what I found funny (but wish it didn't happen though :-X) was that, after not playing 2K10 for months, I played the Spurs/C's games yesterday before the game, thinking that it wouldn't matter because we were rolling and this was just a superstition but you can see what happened. :P

So if you have lucky pre-game or in-game rituals (a special shirt, activity or something) or jixing ones, feel free to post them here and so we can make a concerted effort to avoid the collective jinxes.

Regular season....none.

Playoffs...I always have to wear either my favorite Celtics ball cap with either my authentic KG #5 St Patty's Day alternate game jersey, my white and green C's sweatshirt with the huge Shamrock on it, or my Celtics boxers. And by that I mean underwear and not my dogs. ;D

This wasn't a pre-game thing, but whenever it was a close game and we needed a big shot, or a good offensive possession, I'd throw on my Larry Bird jersey. When we needed a crucial stop I'd take off the Bird jersey, and put on a Bill Russell jersey.

Everyone thought I was insane.

Every year in the playoffs it is different. Whenever I find the right combination though, it does not change.

Maybe this year I will try incorporating a big bowl of these into my pregame ritual...yummm.

Nice one about the boxers, TP. ;D

By the way I changed the thread's title so you can talk about your in-game superstitions too (it's true that only the pre-game ones was kinda limited). Fun stories so far, I like the switch of jersey Ion3ly, doesn't sound crazy to me!

Does anything ever sound too crazy for sports fans, when it comes to superstitions? It's when you get people in the room that don't follow and know the significant role those two played in C's history that you start getting the weird looks

But, we won some games in that terrible Pre-KG season when I did that, so it's fine with me =D

When I was much younger, during the playoffs, I used to set up a shrine around the television -- Celtics hats, banners, pictures, etc. My parents thought I was nuts, but I really thought it worked.

Impossible now, but in the old days I always turned off the sound on tv and tuned in to Johnny Most.  No one could bring a win in like Johnny!

Now I just make a pot of coffee, kick everyone out of my Florida room with instructions not to bother me (the dog doesn't listen),tune into correct tv station and log in to chat.

Each year is different. I think this year, I'll kiss the Seattle Colisum (Key Arena) for good luck and then go have a beer at a near by pub and call it the Vin Baker Memorial.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I can't wear any Celtics gear the day of a game. Sad.

But, I can wear C's gear if I'm going to a game. I'm 3-0 with 3 blowouts this year.  ;D
