It was NOT just that play by Manu. He was playing rather chippy that entire game and we had NO response. I wish it was just that Perk was not playing, but we have played SOFT all year. We "pie in the sky" Celtics' fans can deny it all we want to, but this is a Charmin SOFT team. If we don't get that toughness back in the next two weeks, our team might be drying their collective tears with Charmin tissues after a quick exit.

Pie in the sky? That's not exactly I nice way to label some of our more positive posters.
And I don't think many people are denying that this team has played soft underneath or with a lack of conviction or effort.
First off, let me state that I am still a "positive" member but i just wanted to add to what you said. We are playing extremely soft and the lack of effort is disgusting. I was not watching basketball last night, I was watching the Celtics jack up shots and watch the ball bounce to the Spurs, play after play after play. There are three people I saw play with moderately consistent effort: KG (even though I saw him do his fair share of ball watching), TA, and Shelden. Something HAS to be done. We can't continue to play like this and I'm sick of hearing them say, "blah blah, it's just the regular season, blah blah, we're bored and stuff, blah blah." I hate to say this because I truly love this team but based upon some of the levels of effort I've seen given this season, this could be the most sorry Celtics team I've ever witnessed. They have so much talent yet they just choose not to care, not to play with any Celtic pride.
Strangely enough, for me, I actually was pleased with the effort. The offense stalled, and was pretty bad all night. As we Celtics fans say, as Rondo goes, the Celtics go? In this case, take a look at Rondo's numbers: six points, seven assists, three rebounds, one steal, four turnovers. Not bad, but significantly under his season averages. Thus, the 73 point game for the Celtics.
The defense forced Tim Duncan to not take as many shots, but they couldn't hold off Ginobili's drives, so they couldn't limit the Spurs to the 80 point range.
Have someone lay out Ginobli??? It seemed as if after he put that foul on KG that landed KG on the floor, the whole team seemd to tuck into a shell. The Spurs absolutely set the tone with that, and it seemed very unlike us to not retaliate, and I would have loved to have seen it. I'm sure it would have made Ginobli think twice about going to the rim so much.

There was not even a foul called on the play.
I was screaming for a foul too, but after looking at the replay, I changed my mind. It was a good call by the refs and a great block by Ginobili, as much as I hate to say it..
