What's the story with bubie brown? I usually don't give much thought to these kinds of things but I have seen enough lately to feel that he has something against the celts. In some cases he has outright cheered against the celts.

I mean last week he cheers JR smith's three point shot. Today he cheers manu's shot, says that it is a good thing the refs can review rondo's shot BEFORE they actually review it, and finally he complains about us getting the tie breaker. There have been several more subtle comments.

So am I missing something? Is there a history I don't know about?

He's a commentator who cheers good shots. who likes good rules (the ability to go back and look at Rondo's shot) and is upset by unfair rules ( the tie breaker rule). I don't think that's bias, that's him doing his job.

Like I said, I usually don't put much stock into these things but I don't think I am making this up completely.  I mentioned some obvious cheering but it is the more subtle comments that seem stronger evidence to me.  And listen, I know who Hubie Brown is.  But there seems to be something there in the WAY that he is commentating lately.

He was complementing the Celtics constantly during the first 2 quarters, but when a team is getting blown out there's not a lot good to say about them.

I haven't gotten the sense Hubie has anything against us. I think he's one of the more objective ESPN guys and don't mind when he calls our games. His main flaw that gets me is his commitment to  mispronouncing the same names over and over.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Interesting note - guys who've worked with Hubie on the broadcasting side speak in hushed reverential tones about him as a person, as a storyteller and as a basketball mind.

And he brings the comedy. Besides the wondrous Hubie second-person voice, he LOVES every time out called by EVERY coach. And he loves to applaud officials for making the right call. Happens again and again.

"Any time in this league..." That's Hubie's tag line as in: Any time in this League you let the other team smoke you at home it hurts."

I love Hubie.

Hubie also commented more than a few times about how quite the Garden crowd was and he yes it 2 times in the 1st half when we still had a game going. I was there screaming my head off but overall The crowd seemed bored. The Garden crowd is becoming like the Laker crowd. Are these all just band wagon fans or what or are the fans saving there energy for when the games count?

I think they've been anesthetized by this letdown of a year.

At least Hubie is the only ESPN/ABC commentator I can tolerate.

If I had to pick a guy after tommy & mike to do our games it would be hubie.  He doesn't gush over lebron like espn guys. Doesn't care about pretty dunks, isn't van gundy! and really really knows basketball

Easy now.  Van Gundy is one of the best color commentators out there.

I can't stand him, like felger can't stand him, I like when jalen rose zings him and brings him back to reality.  A good color commentator his broadcast flows, van gundy is all forced, listen to me sort of things
can't stand him
