Jeff got me thinking about teams that didn't dominate during the whole season (few examples). Interesting fact about the Celts 68/69 run (48-34). They started the season 19-6 (this year 23-5). They finished the season 29-28. But like Jeff mentioned, you win with defense...they were the 2nd best defensive team that year, this year's team is also one of the best.
Another interesting point about the 68/69 team. Their top 8 players were up in age ... two at 29 (Hondo and Nelson), two at 30 (Bryant and Siegfried), Sanders at 31, Howell at 32, Russell at 35, and Sam Jones at 36.
Again as Jeff said, historical performance is no indication of future results. That said, I still feel good about this team and if they are healthy, they should be playing the Lakers for it all.
