The logjam at the wing will be an interesting situation to follow as the playoffs near. Finley, Quis, and TA all seem to deserve pt, but not all of them can play regularly. Will Doc go by the matchups, or pick his guy and stay with him regardless of matchup? Doc has said that the 5-man bench unit will cease to exist in the postseason. That being the case, will the rotation stay at 10 or decrease the normal-sized 9-man rotation?

I think Doc should look at the matchups and platoon the three of them. Also he has the luxury of being able to go with the hot hand. If Finley's missing shots, take him out. If TA's being careless, yank him. He can afford to be impulsive as long as the three players understand that they're being platooned.
If Doc actually said that, I don't think he meant that he'd be playing less than 5 guys off the bench-->most likely meant that he wouldn't have a full bench unit on the floor.

Doc will play 5 bench guys.  Nate, Sheed and BBD are the certainties.  2 of the 3 back up wings (TA, Quisy, Finley) will get some time.

The best part going into the postseason this year, particularly now that the team seems to be ramping up, is that we will actually have a team with players ready to contribute from 1 through 12.  The fact Scal will (probably) be inactive for the postseason just makes it sweeter.

I have to say that TA really brought it last night and it's nice to know that if Marquis is not effective, TA can possibly come in to fill that void.

I am not a big fan of situational minutes from game to game.  IMO, the best thing to do is pick the best guys and play them.  There is far too much overlap between Marquis and TA so I think one should be in and one should sit.  This of course doesn't include end of game or end of quarter situations, where you might play a guy whether you need a stop or a score.

Like I said before, I think needs brings something the other two do not and he should get his steady minutes (whether it be 5 or 15).  For me, it has come down to Marquis or TA to get those last few back up minutes.  And unless Marquis steps up, he may find himself sitting on the bench.

Tony should be playing instead of Marquis.  Tony and Rondo together to me is spectacular.  Together they wreak havoc defensively on the opposition and Tony always seems to be in the right place for Rondo passes.  And he gives us an extra rebounder.  Rebounding seems better when he plays.

Yeah, I'm loving how Tony plays off Rondo and Robinson as well. He's playing his garbage role extremely well - defending, running on the break., bring energy.

Daniels versatile talents are becoming less valuable, now that Robinson and Finely are on board with their sweet touch.

I think the competition is on between TA and Daniels until the playoffs start - perhaps even a little in the 1st round.

At this point, i think TA is flat out better than Marquis. He should play over Marquis IMO.

Marquis Daniels has been very disappointing since the additions of Nate + Finley.

I thought he was the team's best bench player prior to that though ... so I think he deserves more time to figure things out before losing his minutes.

However, if his poor play does keep up, then TA deserves a shot.

If we re-sign TA and don't use the MLE on Daniels (and don't re-sign him), I would be totally fine with it.

The merry-go-round that is the back-up wing rotation continued against the Rockets.  After TA foul trouble the other day got Marquis back into the rotation, Ray Allen foul trouble got TA back in front of Marquis.

As has been the case since the beginning of March, Quis spent his 5 minute cameo in the 1st half making little to no impact, working in two drives producing a bucket and a turnover to go along with 0s along the rest of the stat sheet.

TA gets 27 minutes, scores 12, grabs 5 boards, passes out 3 assists, swipes 5 steals and blocks a shot, against 1 turnover and 4 fouls.

At what point does Doc give up on Quis getting his groove back and just stick with Tony, who, for all his many flaws, has been significantly outproducing Quis for the 2nd half of the season?

If TA could just stop making bonehead decisions. Great steal near the end of regulation then he tries to drive up the court and score instead of trying to use up time.

If Daniels comes back, then there's no way I want TA on the team.

I'm sick of having two backup wings who cannot hit a jump shot.

One or the other? Maybe, but definitely not both.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I hate that we have to play Michael Finley key minutes and hope that he shoots an absurd enough % at a high enough volume to make up for his completely petrified defense.

I just can't get excited about bringing Marquis back. His lack of athleticism, speed and shooting and rebounding ability makes him a non-factor with our chaotic bench units.
