This is why the guy hasn't gotten minutes until his team was shredded to pieces by injuries, trades, and gun carrying suspensions.

"You know what I'm disappointed in?" Saunders said. "I'm disappointed that since we've started him, he gets 60 percent of the offense run through him. Coaches aren't wrong, no matter what. When a coach wants to teach you something, and you think you're above that, because you've played 16 games, good games? I had Kevin Garnett, that guy you could say one thing, he's up there, 'What do you want, Coach? I want to get better every time.' He never copped that type of attitude. That's ridiculous -- it really is."

Great baller, but he's obviously got a "legend in his own mind" thing going on ... he wouldn't be the first one to have his career ruined by attitude problems, (I hope he wises up).

Funny thing, since the trades and the guns, Blatche became the focal point of the teams marketing.

I guess it's like the Madden curse this year in the NBA.

I wish Flip would consider fantasy basketball teams when pulling a guy after 8 minutes of action.

I thought he'd turned the corner but I guess not. They've had a very disappointing season but it doesn't excuse him basically checking out early and bailing on the team. Makes me appreciate Doc and our 2006-07 team because it has to be tough for young players to stay motivated and compete hard when the team just keeps losing.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Old news but character off the court is sometimes reflected on the court.

Wizards' Blatche Arrested
Charged With Reckless Driving

Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche was arrested Wednesday in south-central Virginia on charges of reckless driving and driving on a suspended license for the third time, authorities said.

Blatche, who is entering his fourth season with the Wizards and signed a five-year contract worth around $15 million last summer, was clocked going 86 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 85, said Brunswick County 1st Sgt. Dwyane Jones. In Virginia, anyone driving faster than 80 mph can be charged with reckless driving said Jones, who was the arresting officer.

Blatche, 21, was heading north from Georgia to the Washington area in a 2008 Mercedes. He appeared before a magistrate and was released on bond, Jones said.

"He was very cooperative," Jones said.

The 6-foot-11, 248-pound Blatche split time between power forward and center last season, appearing in all 82 regular season games with 15 starts. He averaged a career-best 7.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 20.4 minutes.

Blatche has been involved in other notable off-court incidents.

In September 2005, three months after the Wizards selected him with the 49th overall pick in the NBA draft out of South Kent Prep in Connecticut, Blatche was shot in an attempted carjacking that took place early one morning near his home in Alexandria.

The bullet pierced his chest and arm, and he appeared in only 29 games as a rookie. Then, last Aug. 2, Blatche and an acquaintance were arrested and charged with sexual solicitation in Northwest Washington.

At the time, Blatche was also wanted for failure to appear on a charge of driving without a license, stemming from an arrest in October 2006. The solicitation charge was dropped after Blatche followed court orders and attended a day-long seminar for men who solicit prostitutes.

However, Blatche was reprimanded by D.C. Superior Court Judge Rafael Diaz during a Sept. 1, 2007, hearing for not checking in with D.C. Pretrial Services agency once a week as required by the conditions of his release.

Neither Blatche nor Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld could be reached for comment last night.

It's tough because the guy is so extremely talented.  He was always a teaser on my fantasy team.  He can be a borderline All Star, along the lines of Gerald Wallace/Caron Butler but instead he seems to settle for Tyrus Thomas/Eddie House.  One of those guys that can help off the bench but u cant trust.

Wow ... the guy has a troubled history, though I can't say I'm all that surprised. Sounds like he's got a huge chip on his shoulder ... maybe he could come to Boston so the Big Three can help him get rid of it. ;)

I remember seeing tape of him around the draft and wondering why he slipped so far and why if he was from Syracuse --Syracuse University had not been able to bring him in--then a few days after his 19th birthday he is shot in the middle of the night under strange circumstances.  Sometimes guys drop in the draft for non-basketball issues--Blatche would appear to be one.
