a) Those points came against Detroit, a team starting a 6'7'' center.

b) Leon Powe is one more knee injury away from being retired.

Can't I be happy for the guy?

yes you can, and tp for being so. i am happy for powe and wish him good luck and good knees.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

no, happiness is not allowed here, there will be shock therapy at 5 if your attitude doesn't change

yeah, haven't you heard? leon's a cold hearted snake with a game like travis knight who spurned the highly generous offer the Cs made him last summer because he lacks integrity or loyalty to selfishly sign with a team that didn't believe at all in his abilities but just has a grudge against celticsblog and wanted to make us all mad. where have you been?

What's amazing is that Powe's value was never in his ability to score big points, and yet he had 16 quality points in that game.  Granted it was against Detroit, but his production I had always considered "free production" in that it didn't take away from anyone else on offense.

I'm glad to see he's healthy enough to play, and am scared to think of what he'll do to our second unit in the playoffs... he'll likely live at the free throw line.

Agree with move to let him go.

Happy for him that he is back on an NBA contender contributing.

Hope he doesnt get hurt again.

Look forward to follwing the career of a great guy who helped us win a title.
it was smart business, if he didn't have the injury I believe he'd still be here
i hope he does well enough to sign a good contract with some length so if he is hurt again he'll be ok
this man deserves it

Good he's horrible from the FT line.

I'm sorry but Powe is the exact definition of a "black hole"on offense. Once he gets the ball he ain't giving it back.

I loved Powe when he was with us though but once a player leaves our team that love goes away pretty quickly. I actually still liked him until I actually saw him suited up in a Cav's jersey.

Good he's horrible from the FT line.

He was 68.9% last year from the FT line.
Glen Davis  is 67.5% this year from the FT line.

Obviously they both need to improve their FT shooting, but at least with Powe more of the times he got to the line were a result of offensive rebounds and other "free be" type plays.

Glad to see Powe playing well and getting back into shape. I still hate to see him in a Cavs uniform and I don't want to see the Celtics play against him in the playoffs but... it's a "business" and I still root for Leon.

Interesting no one brought up that davis was going to destroy (lol) our front line while going to the FT line.  Plus they are no where near comparable in regards to form and touch unless they are dunking.  So keep your %'s I'll pass on flat foot set shot Powe.

Also I don't even know what ' free production ' means.  I just call it black hole.

Good for Leon, I always liked him. That said he's a Cav and the more he sucks the happier I will be also so I'm kind of torn.

The problem with threads like these is all the subtext. Everyone want to win the debate about Powe.

Edit: I should say not everyone, but many individuals.

Good for Leon - happy he's seemingly recovered and playing well.  I hope he continues to find a place in the league, he deserves it.

The only thing I'd say is that the C's might've been able to save money by re-signing Leon, letting Baby walk, and playing Shelden Baby's minutes the first half of the season.  Our record likely wouldn't be much different and the C's would've saved a few million.

That said, I think it's a non-issue.  Leon likely won't get his butt of the bench once Shaq and Big Z are back.  And neither Baby, nor Leon are going to be the type of guy our rebuilding campaign will be built around (whenever that happens).

However, both are what we know them to be: fairly polished, but limited, role players who can be nice 8-9th men on good teams.

We didn't need two of them though.
