Avalanche.

YES!!!!! We have a winner!! (I owe you again, BFM) ;)

Apparently, that's up for debate:

Quote
"It had been assumed that avalanches and falling ice – particularly in the Khumbu Icefall on the Nepal route – were the leading causes of death and that high-altitude pulmonary edema would be a common problem at such extreme altitude. But our results do not support either assumption."

Recent studies suggest that altitude sickness (cerebral edema) may be the leading cause of death.

While it has yet to be proven, (and avalanche is the leading verified cause of death), a TP to Chris for his good guess and one to Roy for the research and info provided.

Great questions, Bahku.  Do you know these answers, do you have a trivia book, or something else?

Actually, some are just things I know, (the easy ones, haha), but most I get from an online quiz site that I joined a long time ago ... you can sign on anytime and as soon as you choose a category, it starts timing you ... you get 25 seconds for each answer and it quantifies your results in different ways either daily, weekly, etc., and depending on the level of difficulty you choose. I did it in an attempt to keep my mind sharp and learn new stuff, but it really only serves to show me how ignorant I am. (My brother calls me "A wealth of worthless information") ;)
