We'll know in a few short weeks whether Sheed actually has anything left.  I still leave open the possibility that he is playing in low gear all year to preserve for the playoffs.  It doesn't make a great deal of sense to me that he'd do this, and a better explanation is that he is simply not that good anymore, but I leave open the possibility that the regular season has been about self-preservation and the playoffs will show us a different Sheed. 

BTW, if Sheed is significantly better in the playoffs, I'll forgive him immediately.

I think that the majority of posters on here are too chicken to call out the players who affect the game much more than Rasheed. He's just the easy one to pick on. Of COURSE the guys rotations aren't as good as a 25 year old. Yes he hasn't been shooting the ball with the FG% we would like to see. In 20 min a game though he does average 4 boards and 1 block, so I don't think we can say he has been completely awful on D. What I am saying is that the starters for the most part have played much worse than they have in the past and they should be getting most of the blame. If they aren't giving it 100% why should Sheed?!

TP! I agree with this and it's a good point. Sheed has been scapegoated here constantly the last few weeks. Personally I like Sheed and think he needs more minutes to show what he can do. I don't think he's been given a fair shake.

EJplaya who are you to question what I've seen with my own eyes? I haven't missed one celtics game & it's safe to say I'm a pretty educated fan. And I know what effort is. And I also know what lack of effort looks like. Rasheed has shown a complete disinterest in playing defense. And his constant chucking up of threes with no semblance of any sort of discretion is maddening to say the least. So what are you seeing that I'm not playa?

Maybe since they KNOW Sheed and are around him on a daily basis your perception you get from the TV isn't actually reality. Maybe they also realize THEY aren't giving it 100% so who are they to criticize.
Or perhaps they know deep down that he's useless. And that it just be a waste of time to talk with him.

First of all, are you so vain to think that your opinion of a player is beyond reproach?! That it's not feasibly possible that you could be misunderstanding the guys appearance on the court to be one of disinterest, when it might be just the way his personality is? Should I reply who are YOU to question MY interpretation of Sheeds actions on the court?! Please! Get off your high horse.

I have watched Sheed since day 1 in this league living up in the Portland area. I guarantee you I have seen many more games of his than almost anyone on here. Even when the guy was in college this is how he looked. He doesn't move as well as he used to so yes he ends up not getting to as many rotations as he once did. He has however always been known as a great defensive big man in this league. He is still a solid defensive big man when it matters. To him, and obviously to the rest of this team, the playoffs are what matters. What good would it do to burn his old self out in the regular season and then not be able to raise his game in the postseason? Let's say he did that and we won one or two more games. What would that help? We'd still be sitting where we are. We'd still be a 3rd or 4th seed. Then we'd flame out badly in the 1st or second round. I promise you this. Without Sheed's talent out there off the bench we will not get past the second round. BBD isn't going to get you there. Shelden or Scal aren't going to get you there. Someone needs to take some of KG's minutes and play at a high level or we're cooked. If that means him resting a bit more in the regular season then so be it.

Rasheed had a couple of nice airballs tonight and was one of the few Celtics who did nothing in an easy victory. All in a night's work for Sheed.

This is the most fair-minded response I've seen about Rasheed. There is way too much blame here, as though it is all his fault we haven't done well (up till recently). Ummm, I don't think so! The scapegoating is getting so old here.
I don't understand any of it because in most of the games I've watched, Sheed has been a good presence and helped the team. He doesn't deserve all this disrespect and contempt. But it seems somewhat typical of this blog, unfortunately.
His shooting is usually great, his defense is strong and his Basketball I.Q. is extremely high. We're lucky to have him.
