The truth is Baby averaged 17.5 Points per game in last Year's Playoffs, now can anyone tell me that Kevin is capable of doing that this year? No he can't.

Now Kevin is five inches taller, and much longer etc. But he's not an athlete anymore, and that's what made him  great over his whole career.

Now you can argue about what bigs play best together, I really don't care, I think we should give Baby a real solid look at being are P.F. of the future, and I also think Kevin could be great off the bench. A Combo of Garnett, Wallace, Nate, and Daniels is pretty good. And maybe KG would fair better against the back ups, Bottom line, right now Baby needs more minutes than Kevin on an average night. Baby will put up bigger numbers and play with more energy than Kevin as of right now.    Thoughts...

I think we should give Baby a shot at being the PF of the future but the future is not now.

Baby got those points because the defense left him wide open. He wasn't much of a rebounder in the playoffs last year and the biggest issue we had was missing KG's defense.

Well, if KG is averaging 14.2 ppg in rougly 30 mpg, I don't think its hardpressed at all that he can boost his ppg up to 17.5 ppg during the playoffs.  I'm be inclined to think that his minutes are going to uptick from their current state come playoff time.

We're all aware the Davis had a very solid playoffs for us last year but that's no reason to, all of a sudden, make a drastic change to our starting five and plug Davis in there come playoff time.

KG meshes so well with the starting unit that I really don't think you want to start experimenting with the regular season coming to an end and you certainly don't want to experiment in the playoffs.

TP for originality!

Seriously though just look at how much of a better defensive team the Celtics are with KG on the floor. Surely you cannot be overlooking the fact that even on 1.5 legs, KG is a plus defensively. Also, what does baby do offensively well? Shoot. KG is a better shooter. I disagree all around.

I don't see Davis as an upgrade over KG at this point. He was great last year in the playoffs, but I don't think lack of minutes is what's keeping him from returning to last year's form.

Davis has been bringing great energy and offensive rebounding off the bench
but hobbled and playing at 70% kg is far far far (how many fars?) better than davis will ever be

In 1st round, Maybe? Glen's youth is actually a plus against the lower seeds. But it will never happen, unless they decide to rest KG.

KG's defense is too great.

I might be ok with Davis starting alongside KG, but that would mean 2 slow guys coming off the bench.

That doesn't mean you start Big Baby over KG.

KG appears to at least have his jumpshot going. Big Baby has yet to show he got his back yet, although he's coming along.

But don't try to sell me that we should put Big Baby out there simply because he's younger even though KG has been fine.

Honestly, it is threads like these that make me take hiatus' from C-blog.  There will be no sustainable or predictable point in Glen Davis' career that he will be more effective than Kevin Garnett is now.  KG may not be in his prime, but he makes such a more positive effect on the court than Davis.

I'm not sure if its even worth arguing with all of you Davis lovers, but at least try and check out the following:

http://www.82games.com/0910/0910BOS.HTM

Garnett is our most productive player.  Glen Davis is one of our least productive.  You think its because other players are holding back Davis?  Or that KG is benefitting from playing with the starters?  Go to the 5-man units:

http://www.82games.com/0910/0910BOS2.HTM

You'll clearly see that when KG alone is replaced by someone else, the team is not nearly as good.

And quite frankly, KG looks better NOW than he has most of the season, so those stats are an understatement.

Do you guys seriously think that Glen Davis is the future starting PF this team needs?  If so, I vehemently disagree.  He is a career bench guy, and I'd be angry at Danny if I have to watch Davis start at PF over the next few years.  Real angry.

A starting 6'6"PF is unheard of these days in the NBA.

Agreed.  And I think a lot of people are overlooking the fact that as a starter, even though he hit some big shots, his defense really fell off a cliff.
