After a night of sleep I have now re-adjusted my expectations for this team for the regular season. I will no longer expect elite basketball and ferocious intensity and it has given me a peace of mind about rooting for this team. I think I can now enjoy watching the games more. Yesterday was brutal for me and I want to actually have fun rooting for a sports team.

If I was somehow able to watch every game from their 07 season and feel good about it, then I should be able to deal with this!

So instead of dwelling on all of the negative trends in their game which are  a plenty, I will now focus on strides they are making to right the ship for the future with the outside (very outside) chance that they really do have another level of intensity in their back pocket and they can make a deep run in the playoffs.

One big improving trend that we should focus on:

Rondo has been shooting 77% from the line in March! This is a great development and he is up to 63% for the season. Kudos to Rondo for really working at something that will make him and the team alot better going forward. It's now on Doc to hand over more of the scoring to him and let him attack the basket more.

I have done the same. I went through the long embarrassing drought that was this team before the day of KG joining.  I hated the losing in the worst way but still loved going to the games to see whatever little growth we could achieve.

After the Banner, my expectations rose to an unsustainable level. <fill in your own frustrations for not repeating>   I have since come back to earth in my expectations. When the Big 3 were put together we hoped for 1, maybe 2 Championships.  We got one. :D

I am back to where I have been since I was a boy, a true Celtic fan, good and bad. We can't win them all and we will again.

I renewed my seats. :D

Thats a good way to look at it.

I've two emotions conflicting with each other. I'm depressed because it could take a long time for this team to get back on top(sorry but don't see it happening this year). Rebuilding in the NBA is very hard to do.
But then again I'm a little excited to see what kind of players we will get in the next few years. I hope(as we all do)the franchise will be on the road to elite and not mid-level good when that time comes. We won a title and ended a long drought and I'm ok with that. But I just hope its not another 20 years before we become great again.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

i thought about this too yesterday - time to adjust my perception of this team instead of waiting on the '08 team to walk through the tunnel.

stop waiting on things to happen that aren't going to come back around for this group.

it ocurred to me that the team also might have more fun and actually play better if they adjusted their own expectations and just played the best that this particular team can play, warts and all.

i really wanted this team to get two flags - every other Celtic championship group won multiple titles - one just didn't seem right.

but if 1 is all we get, well, it was a beautiful season - a Celtics team to be proud of, one that possessed the best of what this franchise is made of - hard work, unselfishness, toughness and best of all, the most beautiful team defense i've seen in a long time.

i'll try to enjoy the season as best i can and if the Celts can't make a run, we can always enjoy watching the Lakers go down in flames.

the Lakers must never, ever surpass us in titles won - it simply cannot happen.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce
