Said it was from a Gary Washburn Tweet. Basically Perk said that he thinks Doc has a lot more confidence in the team than the players have. Hmmmmm.

Here is the exact quote from his Twitter account: Kendrick Perkins: "I think Doc got more confidence in us than we've got in ourselves."

Perk will make a good coach if he ever wants to be one.

I'd settle for him grabbing a board or two and putting people on the ground who're trying to attack our rim.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Doc gives a mean high-five.

No one can ever say otherwise.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Very deep observation on Perk's part.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Yeah, the latter would certainly help, but the days of McNasty and McFilthy are unfortunately over with.

Bill Laimbeer and Ric Mahorn to the youngsters.

But an interesting observation from Perk.

Wasn't that the point in Doc's quoting the Lakers to them?  I think Doc has diagnosed just what Perk has said.  Likewise Doc determined they needed to start actually practicing before Perk opined the same.  Perk is a team guy who is good at getting Doc's message out.

I'm more concerned with what Finley had to say to the Herald

Per ESPN:

Quote
After his first full-squad practice in Boston, former Spurs guard Michael Finley had this to say to the Herald about the differences in his old team versus his new team:

"A lot of talking -- trash talking, I guess," Finley said. "It's a lot more aggressiveness, a lot more of just letting the players go out and play, a lot less teaching than we had in San Antonio."

Popovich is a much better coach than Doc.  I'm not sure this needs to even be discussed.  It is what it is.

Regarding Perk's quote, that's not good.  Perk really tells it like it is; he's had a lot of the most [dang]ing quotes about this team this season, and I think he's not being pessimistic, but just realistic.   :-\

No disrespect to you, PosImpos, but I think that Pop is a better coach than Doc because the Spurs had the Big Fundamental fall into their laps vice ours in the draft.

Doc is not the best coach, but I believe he is under-rated sometimes.

Tim Duncan and Greg Popovich have made each other.  I don't think you can say it's definitely one or the other; neither of them would have had the career they've had without the other.

That doesn't mean Duncan isn't the greatest PF of all time or that Pop isn't a really good coach.

It takes great players and great coaching to win championships; Jackson and Auerbach wouldn't haven't gotten so many rings without M.J., Kobe, and Russel.  However, though they probably would've won some rings anyway, I would argue that none of those players would have won as much as they did without those great coaches.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
somebody ought to tell Perk that there are some things better kept under wraps...  it might be true, but what a dumb thing to go public with.  maybe perk is just speaking for himself?

I don't think it is fair to be that critical without having the context of the quote. Doesn't seem like a bad quote to me.

KG and Pierce & their trash talking was all fine when we were winning, but now it is embarrassing.

Not a big deal though. Kobe won and he trash talks like them. Just because Duncan is polite doesn't mean that it is the only way to go.

Last I heard perk talking to the media, it was that the team wasn't playing well because it was 'bored'.. at this point I think it's good to hear someone on this team be truthful about the state of things, it's been a long time since I felt like this team could argue it was losing games because the players are 'bored' or 'unfocused'.

having said that, perk is near the top of the list for why the C's have been struggling, in my humble opinion, so hopefully he gets some confidence in himself to close out the reg season.
