I became a Celtic fan when Pierce, Allen, and Garnett teamed up. I've followed the careers of all 3 guys, and have always rooted for their success. Ray is probably my favorite player of all-time, but Pierce and KG are right up there on my list as well. Anyway, i definitely became a bandwagon C's fan after these guys teamed up. But i really feel like now, i am a C's fan for life, win or lose. The reason is because i've found the tradition to be so rich, and the fans to be so intelligent when talking about the game. It's just an amazing breath of fresh air to be a part of this fandom. Even as the Big 3 decline and move on, and even when the team starts going through losing seasons, i will still consider myself a fan from here on out. ;)

Are there any other bandwagoners out there turned real fan?  8)

Always been a fan, so can't join you in bandwagoner status, but thanks for the post and it's nice to have you in the wheelbarrow.

Now your job is to fix everything with an eye on the college game, free agency, trades, etc...good luck to us all!

Glad to see this post. I like the positive ones. Me too. Even if we lose, I've enjoyed every minute of watching my team.

All Celtics fans are welcome because we all, at one point or another, were bandwagon fans

I happened to be a bandwagon fan in the 70's during the Cowens/Havlicek hey day

30 something years later, I'm a diehard because I was once a bandwagoner

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham

I guess I'm similar to you as well! I supported Minnesota, but when KG (my favourite player) moved I decided to support his new team as well. I still have an interest in the Timberwolves, but I am only a "fan" of the Celtics. I guess I'll stay a fan of the team KG retires on, so if he's traded I won't be a Celtics fan anymore  :-\ Hope not, because I'd rather be a Celts fan than a fan of some less-storied team  ;) But while I'm here, I'm a legit fan  :)

TP for your story.

Nice story, Spicoli.

I guess you can say I've been a Bandwagon fan since 1981..and even back then the most visible player to me was Larry. My fandom picked up momentum steadily after that.

Well, since we're making "confessions", I guess I'm guilty as charged on REALLY becoming a fan around the Big 3 era. I watched a few games here and there in 06-07 back when guys like Wally and Pollard were still with the team (maybe I get a little credit for mentioning them, maybe not, who knows), but I'm not going to pretend that counts more than it could. But I still remember where I was when I knew:

a) we didn't get the 1st pick in the NBA Draft that would eventually be Greg "injury bug hates me" Oden

b) Where I was when I knew about the transactions that would get us KG and Ray Allen

c) Heck, I even know where I was when I saw we were getting BBD, who at the time I remember helped LSU beat the notorious Duke Blue Devils in the NCAA Tourney. :)

Win or lose at this point, I can't say I know another NBA team I'd ever cheer for. Definitely not the Lakers, though...

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
had always been a passive fan until around 2003 or 2004. I bandwagoned on when the youth movement had legs.

I was born a Celtic, so I don't know what this bandwagon thing is.
