I'm all for shaking things up for a game or two, Popovich style.  But long term, no way do I want Rasheed starting.  Our starting unit is already old, tired, and lethargic.  It would be absolutely nuts to add more of the same(even more than the rest of them) to the starting unit.  It would not work.  But if Doc thinks it's going to motivate Perk to play at a higher level, I say go for it for a few games.

I just want Perk to play better. There is really no reason that he shouldn't be playing better than he has unless he is injured.

As for Wallace I don't understand why some people think he can't play alongside KG, or Baby because none of them will be down low. Well, newsflash: we are not going for the offensive rebound. Our rebounding problems this year have not been on the offensive end but on the defensive end when we let other teams get second chances time and time again. Wallace won't be floating around the 3 point line on defense, he will be parker by his man under the basket.

Perk has been as bad as you can be on boards over the past month. I think even Wallace can improve upon it. I might not be in favor of necessarily starting Wallace but give him some more minutes. We aren't getting anything out of our center right now so it is certainly worth a shot.

If The Cs continue to struggle and exit the playoffs early, Sheed is going to be traded to Charlotte this summer.

Don't be shocked if he's dumped for Nazr Mohammed (who will be in the final year of his deal). The Cs would likely then move KG to center with Nazr backing him up and trade Perk for a young player with scoring ability.

You heard it here first.

first unit
rondo... do your thing little man
danials... slash and pass and post
pierce... take more threeeeee's shooter man
kg... get your mean back
sheed... play d and stay in the post.

with pierce hitting a career high from 3 point land you can move ray to the 2nd unit, bring in danials fresh legs and keep ypur spacing

sheed starting with KG may improve faltering chemistry. two old goats finally get to play together.

second unit
nate... run around create havoc, open up looks
allen hit that jumper
finley hit that jumper
bbd... hit that jumper
perk... dunk, don't gather

i like an earlier posters comment about perk and BBD playing off each other so i'm willing to shelve my "sit bbd play sheldon" screed if we try this lineup.

2 NON-shooters in our starting backcourt? It almost defeats the thesis of the topic; I thought we wre arguing whether to start Sheed or Perk cause Perk hasn't been doing so well lately. Ray Allen's not the problem.

i wouldnt mind giving it a shot.  with how succeptable perk is to pouting on the court, i would worry about how he would respond and fear he would be worse off.
Agreed

I am not worried about Perk. He'll come around in time. I think dropping him to the bench is an over-reaction that will likely cause more problems than solutions.

Hate it. Perk is a better player, just slumping. He also would be an awful 6th man.

I can see being in an offensive slump or even defensive slump but rebounds? Isn't that the one thing where even if you are in a slump you can make up for by grabbing rebounds? To me he is either not trying (trying hard) or he is injured. I don't care if he can't get a basket he should be able to grab more than 5 boards a game even if he is in a "slump"

idea is based on pierces improved 3 point percentage. ray is not the problem but with allen in the starting lineup pierce is the slasher and allen the shooter. pierce is tired and banged up. he may be more effective as the shooter right now.
move danials to the staring line up and utilize his fresh legs as the slasher, move pierce to the perimeter.

Leave the starters intact. This isn't Pre-school. Perk you've been a bad boy, now go to the bench. It doesn't work like that. And it's unfair to Perk. The only solution is for Doc to get creative with the rotation. And use his Timeouts wisely. Take a preventive approach.

One of the C's biggest problems is rebounding, and you want them to start one of the worst rebounders (especially on offense) on the team?

To be fair, Perk has been rebounding like crap for the past 2 months or so.

Perk stays.   He will get out of his slump.

Play Wallace with Perk or KG only.  No more Wallace and Davis.
