I don't think there is any benefit from resting Garnett. He has clearly shown that he needs a considerable amount of playing time after returning to action to perform at a good level.

If he is rested until close to the playoffs ... I think the chances of him playing well in the playoffs decreases dramatically.

Whatever each is dealing with, I am not sure rest will help. Pierce looked great earlier in the year so the OP is off by saying Pierce has been bad all year.

I do agree with the OP that without them playing well we are going nowhere. I just think they need to play themselves out of the funk. It is the only option because it is too late to rest them. There would not be enough time to develop chemistry if they came back with 8 or 9 games to play.

It's a percentages play and the better bet is just to roll them out there and hope they play better.

Just a few days ago I wrote about how injured KG looked, and that I didn't think he'd bounce back.  Well, last night was the best I've seen him look in a year.  I was extremely encouraged, not by his performance, but by how comfortable he looked.  His gait was normal, he had spring in his step, his lateral quickness was much improved, and he wasn't looking down at that knee every two seconds.  I'm loving it and hope it continues.

TP for a positive observation from last night. I know it must have been tough!

Haha, nah I have been hoping to see positive signs from him.  But even when he had good games I didn't like his body language at all.  The last two games, he hasn't been great, but his body language is totally different.  More than any other factor, that knee is the key to the whole season.  That's why I've been analyzing him so much for clues.

Sitting them, for whatever reason, for the year, would be reminiscent of sitting Paul for the season after he scored 50 against Orlando to flagrantly tank for a draft pick.

In this economy, if Wyc or Danny sit them in the hopes of having a healthy team next season, a lot of the stands, in this economy, will be empty next season.  I know, barring some miraculous epifamy, I won't renew my NBALP next year and won't go out of my way to attend any C's games.  With the pathetic tiered officiating, I watch few games except the C's as it is.

But if they don't start playing non-bored basketball...Or whatever the hell this is... the result will be the same anyway.
