Yes, yes and yes! OP, get a boxer ASAP! Mine is 3 years old and behaves like a 2 month old puppy. And they're so funny, too.

I'm curious about Boston Terriers.  I love them for their cuteness, and I like the size, but I don't know much about them...Are they sort of like small Boxers?

Small boxers = pugs/English bulldogs.

They're a bit like small boxers.  Awesome dogs, but can be a little stubborn.  I think they are prone to quite a few health problems, too....

I suggest something that won't fit inside your girlfriends purse when it's no longer a puppy.

two favs are english bulldogs and cocker spaniels.  bulldogs have lots of health issues earlier than other breeds though.  my cocker spaniel was THE best!

Here's a dog poem to throw into the mix:

I Envy Dogs

I envy dogs
when I see one sprawled
with paws outstretched
and chin on the floor
in conscience-free comfort
tried it myself once
but found it quite awkward
not to mention inane
for why would a sane man
wish to emulate a canine
a lower form of life
a prancing buffoon
dimwitted servant
master of crass
cagey maybe, but clueless
relentless, however
in pursuit of the pecking order
immune to the deflation of defeat
God!
I envy dogs

This is a pic of my Boston Terrier when I got him at 9 weeks old.  Hes just over a year old now, and I gotta say I love these dogs.

Theyre smart, they look like little gremlins which I think is awesome, haha.  Theyre very active, so be prepared to keep this dog active, if you dont get them their exercise they'll drive you nuts.  I've always thought terriers were cool dogs, I like ankle biters.

You may like a mini Dachshund if you like small dogs. They are very playful, have lots of energy, don't shed and are very easy to train.

We have had a lot of different breeds growing up. For an outside dog you can't beat a lab. I can't stand how they shed so much inside though. Not a dog hair all over the place person.

For an inside dog our current one is hands down the best we've ever had. It is a Schnoodle. Half miniature schnauzer and half miniature poodle. NO SHEDDING! Not a hair in the house after 3 years. He can be cut to look like a schnauzer or left curly to look like a poodle. Great with kids. Lets you know when someone is coming up the walk. Doesn't need a ton of exercise. Not one of those rodent sized dogs but still only about 15 pounds. Here is what he looked like as a puppy.

Here is what he looks like grown. (cut like a schnauzer)

Left long like a poodle.
