CelticsHub made a good analysis today of Ray's stats for the first 51 games of the season, 12 games prior to the trade deadline, and post deadline (10 games). I can only advise you to go and read the entire article (here) but the stats speak for themselves :

Quote
Season Stats (2009-2010 Season)
MPG          FG%        3PT%            PPG

Pre ASB Break (51 games):
36.4            45               33.8            16.0

12 Games Before Deadline:
37.5            38.4            25.8            14.9

Post Deadline (10 games)
34.7            57.7            44.2            18.7

Funny how Ray kept saying the trade rumors didn't affect his game but it's obvious it did and he is feeling more relaxed since he is sure he will stay a Celtic for the rest of the season.

Also, Ray is playing less minutes since the deadline. Not a lot of difference but still, extra rest can't hurt him, and it would be cool to see Doc rest Ray even more as the season goes on, especially with Finley able to bring some shooting to the 2nd unit.

It's been a pleasure watching Ray play since late February, he really looks like he can't miss anymore. And it's even more of a beauty to watch since so many people claimed he was done, too old, not able to shoot well anymore, etc. Ray got in a slump everytime he has been a Celtic but so far he has always come out of it.

So here is this thread, giving props to Ray and hoping he continues to play so well for the rest of the season and playoffs!

He's certainly looked a lot better out there of late.  Glad to see the numbers speak to it too.

...and despite his earlier shooting woes, the guy is still in great shape, and is a lethal floor spreader. I'd be really happy if he came back for the right price. Actually... Ray should only extend 1 year at a time, that way he can control where/if he is traded. And meanwhile Boston can free up a lot of money by paying him maybe 8 million for a year.

I digress. Way to get your shooting back on track Ray! Go Celtics! The playoffs are only about 5 weeks away!!

it's the minutes...His legs are fresher--I've been saying for awhile, that Doc was running him into the ground earlier this year with Marquis out.

I know that 3 minutes per game may not seem that much, but I think he's getting just the right amount of rest during games now...Ray was a MUCH better shooter in 2007-2008 when he had a few days off.

Good thread; I was going to post something similar.  I never bought the theory that Ray's game fell off of a cliff.

Ray missed the last game prior to the all star break so he basically had over a week off in between games to rest and heal some lingering ailments.  I'm sure that helped along with the mental relief of not being traded.
