We need an energetic / athletic wing. Only problem is Doc would never trust someone young this late in the season. Would rather have seen Walker or now Landry get a chance than Finely. Even Shelden has been bringing it. Sheed, Perk and an injured Garnett are quick enough or athletic enough - no match for Atlanta or Cleveland. BBD hustles, but is vertically challenged.

Tony Allen and Marquis are athletic wings that play... No match for Cleveland's athleticism? Shaq? Big Z?

Marquis isn't really athletic.  I don't think he's dunked in a game for us yet.

I think the athleticism on Cleveland he's referring to is LeBron, Hickson, Varejao, Moon, Jawad Williams, Antawn Jamison...etc.

Gotta get rid of Sheed this offseason and replace him with a big who can move his legs (like an Amir Johnson).

Dumb Doc. He had the next second round draft pick star of the NBA on the team in and let him go. Walker would change it all.

That was in my most sarcastic voice by the way.

Walker is useless on this team. He can't provide TA's energy or play any D. He doesn't have the basketball knowledge of Marquis. And he is not a Point-Guard. However, He does have some nice DUNK! thats about it.

Yeah I mean I can tell he's trying to make an effort to post up more lately, and he's not playing badly enough that he's directly culpable for any of our general problems, but I just think Sheed was the wrong guy for this team. And for that the blame goes on Danny. Granted, he's still got a chance to prove me wrong in the playoffs.

We need our backup bigs to be young players with fresh legs who are excellent rebounders and are quick enough to give solid help defense. Sheed is looking worse and worse on defense and is the opposite of that description.

I'm starting to think that many NBA fans think that "Nice Dunk = Good Player."

Wait, it doesn't? Because I have been working on my vertical and nothing else for years now in hopes of making an NBA team. I was led to believe by the countless Gerald Green threads in the past that I had a shot  ;)

We still have 1 more roster spot to fill for an athletic 4. In Danny's defense, there's not much out there(even around the trade deadline except Tyrus Thomas)

Stromile Swift would be perfect for 10-15 minutes per game. He can catch many oops from Rondo(that use to be thrown to KG) and rebound and block shots.
Melvin Ely is another name. Slightly less athletic, but three times more athletic than BBD.
Kenny Thomas might be best. He can rebound in bunches, post up more than Sheed will, and can still dunk over smaller players in the paint..unlike BBD
Can't stop, Rondo!

Is Landry actually athletic?  In the little I have seen of him, he has looked more like a Ryan Gomes type player.

Good point. Landry is not that athletic; however, he is probably more athletic than a 37 year old Finley. It has been suggested that the turning point of last nights game was when Nate threw the ball off a player for the out of bound on the Wizards call. That is not veteran savvy; just out and out hustle. Was painful to watch the Celtics bigs get out played by the Wizards and is the same thing that will happen in the playoffs unless we can get some bigs that are willing to hustle. Garnett gave his all; but is not even close to 100%

Even Doc said they were too slow last night. Looked hesitant and like they were stuck in molasses.

When has this Celtics team ever been confused with the young athletic teams that excite fans, but win nothing in the playoffs?

Celtics need smart play.  They need a shooter off the bench.  Finley does both.

Playoff basketball is about half court offense and strong defense.  The Celtics have the pieces in place to do that.  The question is when are they going to stop cruising and start playing 48 minutes because waiting till the playoffs begin is not a great plan.
