KG is looking better and better every game, and he has been really good for the past 3 weeks, getting back to his early season shape so I don't understand the point of this thread, it seems to me that it has been posted at the worst possible time since KG's knee looks better and better every game.

KG is quicker, moves laterally pretty well and runs without limping.

He's finally rounding into shape if you ask me---I think they were telling the truth about his knee this year (maybe they really didn't know last year)...the only thing I see now, is that he gets winded pretty quickly---He just needs more consistent minutes to get into KG shape.

I know this injury/surgery well from experience, and he's exactly where I expect him to be ... his progress has been excellent, and he's about 85 to 90%.  :)

no one knows for sure except kg and the medical staff.  any guess is purely speculation.

all i know is that i am happy he is playing.  a kg at 50% is better than no kg.  a kg at 75% is better than a lot of nba players.

When I was 18 I had the brilliant idea that I would jump up and kick a 7 foot high doorway. I did it but when I landed one leg went backwards at the knee and it hyperextended and tore cartilage.

After my surgery things were never quite the same. I played a lot of volleyball and always had to jump about 80% off of one leg. Certain activities were very hard to do and others were impossible. What I see from KG is a guy who is somewhat tentative to get in traffic for fear of reinjury. This shows in his lack of rebounding. He does look like he is starting to get some hops back though. Blocked shots are a very good indicator of the overall strength of his knee. In this motion he is less likely to get injured then rebounding in traffic. So, I would say as his blocks and rebounds go, so goes KG. I think he will be better and probably around 86% of what we expect from him by then

I have no idea about KGs pain level and I certainly don't want to jinx it, but I agree with you Dru. KG looks like he is getting stronger on that leg.

I am floored to be saying it because I really couldn't see how a bad knee could get better while playing on it, but he does seem to be more aggressive on defense around the rim and that is where we really need him.

here's hoping it continues.

He has to rely more on fluidity/ elegance and less on explosive atheleticism. But he still has to dig in on the rebounding, KG has 22 games w/o an offensive board this season.  ::)

I think it's a work in progress. The leg looks to be getting stronger and he's figuring out how to play with less explosiveness. He looks better. He's blocking more shots and starting to intimidate opponents.

While I agree with most of the posts stating that KG's knee is looking stronger, I think KG is looking at the reality that he is now having to play smarter and will not be able to beat as many people with his athletic ability.

That surgically repaired knee is rehabbing again for the "how many-ith time" in the past few seasons? It clearly will never be the same again, it is therefore pretty much impossible to quantify if it is 70, 80 or 90 percent healed isnt it?

Good point BW Celtic about the time he is sitting and getting 'cool'. Chances are that he is feeling more than a little stiffness and very likely dealing with arthritis too as time goes on.

The key for me is that he be able to play with a minimum of discomfort. That will help his production as much as anything. His Defense and Rebounding will increase as the pain decreases to a great extent.

All the discussion has been interesting.  My question is whether the knee is actually repaired (ie fixed) and just rehabbing or if the knee isn't really "fixed" but there is still something not quite right.  He looks to me like someone who is working with a knee that is not quite right but I have no experience with knee surgeries.

As I said in the OP, I think KG is a warrior and what he is contributing this season is all from heart and guts (both of which he has plenty of).  I just have this bad feeling that more work needs to be done this off season (if he makes it that long) and I am worried about the future.

Please reassure me that I am over-reacting.

And Sheed is just the guy to teach KG how to rework his game to play without athleticism.

I think it's all a matter of confidence. Look how long it took Tony Allen to get over his knee surgery. Some guys just cant get it out of their minds. If his knee was in trouble structurally or if he was in real pain, he would be sitting I can guarantee that.

Good point by the OP about landing only on one leg. I notice that too. He also rarely jumps off of two feet for dunks anymore.

I can say this. Judging by his increased shotblocking and using the eye-test, his quick jumping has vastly improved lately.

What is this crap of being "once again a solid player", have you guys been watching him for the last 3 weeks or so?

What he needs is for Doc to play him a bit more, instead of giving him those long rests he gives that at times takes him away from the rhythm of the game, and pass him the [dang] ball more often.

TP... I've been saying for awhile that I think the offense should run through KG more often.  Even now he can create a decent look against anybody, and he's the best passer on the team not named Rondo.

TP. I see Perk and company fumble alot of great passes from KG's double teams. That's also where Perk gets most of his points.

As for the knee thing, I think it could be a majority "all in the head" case. KG might not be %100, but after a few repeat injuries, confidence is easily lost. I've hurt my ankle(BAD) more than a few times in my life. This most recent one left the biggest effect, causing me to feel awkward when jumping and landing. KG is clearly(hopefully) going through the same thing and will progress even more in the post season.
Can't stop, Rondo!
