According to Rod Thorn and everyone else one the Nets...Battie isn't being bought out.

Battie only with a signing of Larry Hughes will do the trick! ;)

Finley fills a bigger need.  We actually could use a larger 3 who can hit the open three.  Battie on the other hand, while he might have more left, won't crack the rotation unless there's an injury, and even then, I'm not convinced he could beat out Williams and/or Scal.

Sign them both. We need size down low at the center position and we need a three point shooter off the bench. Neither would get big minutes but could definitely be clutch come playoff time.

Are they both now available

I thought there was a rule that a player not released or bought out by a team before March 1st was ineligible for a playoff roster spot if signed after March 1st by another team

So whoever the Celtics sign, if they want them to help in the playoffs that player would have to be released from their contract by when?

Midnight last night

Sometime today

I would Take Larry Hughes, Finley, or Battie. I would take any of them. I like Hughes cause he can play some Good D and stretch the floor a little bit. Mike because he can defitnaly spread the floor and has good playoff experience. Battie another Big to have helps with rebounding and someone with playoff experience and who can help when there is foul trouble.

I am worried about the broken finger but otherwise Hughes would be a good chance to take.

I'd actually love to see Batman come back to Boston regardless if we win or not. Battie paid his dues back in the day, if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have banner 17. He did save a certain someone's life, that same person also outshot LeBron and Kobe in the 08' playoffs...Hope he gets bought out and returns where he belongs. He always looked good in green. He still offers more then that fat cocky pig BBD.

If Portland hasnt signed him, I still like Kenny Thomas as a late veteran addition. He can still hit an open jumpshot, rebound and will not make big mistakes. He also can give us 10 mpg of reliable defense.

Either of the two mentioned by the OP would be fine as well and for the same reasons. I do not think Battie is being bought out so that means my vote has to be for Finley by default. He is the better offensive asset in any case.

We can also sign Tyrone Lue from our coaching staff cant we?
