According to Marc Stein's twitter, the Spurs just released him.  He has looked pretty close to cooked this year, but Danny was interested in him before, and he is still a better shooter than Daniels or Tony Allen.

I think he would be a very interesting pick up as veteran wing insurance, and as an extra shooter/scorer off the bench.

I don't trust Doc to use him well. And I like Doc, but the way he uses vets might be his worst enemy.

It could also be a favor to him (and his agent), because he doesn't really have a spot in their rotation now right now.  But the fact that he can't get into their rotation is not a good sign.

But he does possess a skill the C's really need off the bench.

He'd be like the 10 or 11 man. But he can shoot and hit free throws so he could be of some use. I rather have a young small forward who can defend, rebound and take it hard to the hoop, but.....

Hughes.  I just think a few other teams need to pass on him before the C's are on the radar.

Definitely. Finley is worth signing.

Finley is not the upgrade over TA that I had hoped for but he's serviceable and that has value.

I don't expect anyone better, any better wing, to become available.

Finley -- Hughes can't beat out TA for his spot either. At least Finley brings a good jump shot to table. Not much interest in another wing who cannot shoot the ball.

I'd rather have Finley. He can still shoot and even though he's old and slow he plays smart. He probably would be a situational player anyway, when we need shooting on the floor or foul shooting at the end of games. He'd be a good pick up.

Terrible fit.  We need a guy who can come in and bang down low and play a little defense like a Tony Battie. 

Finley would just be taking up space on the bench.  All he is, these days, is a spot up shooter.  Believe it or not, Tony Allen is much more important than Finley would be.
