Niether is Bob Cousy, Tommy, Russel, or Sam Jones, Not even Mad Maxwell!   LOL.

What we need is for Paul Pierce to walk through that door from two years ago.

Pierce is the quickest guy to lose his game out of the big three, and if we are have a chance this year, someone needs to bring Paul to Mark Mcgwire's brother and make Paul "get with the program"

He may be if we sign Finley  and Battie.....  the average age on this team would be in his ballpark ya know

I think Cousy still has some left in the tank while we're at it

I don't know about that. For most of the season he's been the team's best player. Lately he's just been hurt, but I still have more confidence in Pierce to perform at a high level in the playoffs than anyone else on the roster.

Last year Pierce was horrendous in the playoffs. Out of everyone, I like Rondo the best to "step up his game."

haha Are you joking me you're not even close.

Look up some stats and see for yourself at games played, shooting percentages, and overall stats.

Both Allen and KG average less points than Paul, even this season.  KG shoots the best from the field at 54% but Pierce is shooting higher FG percentage than in the championship season at 46%..and is way higher in 3 point percentage as well.

Ray has declined big time dropping from 40% to 34% from 3 from last year to this year and and has dropped from 42 to 40% overall.

While Pierce's rebounding and assist numbers have declined, they are very slight, at around 1 less rebound per game and .3 difference in assist.

KG since the 07-08 has declined in rebounding every year by around 1 board per game.  Allen has stayed about the same for rebounding at around 3.

Oh then there's the injury thing.

So far Pierce has played in more games than either Ray or KG in the previous two seasons, and has still played in 1 more game than KG this year.  Allen this year has missed just 1 game, and is for sure the second most healthy of the Big 3.

All three of them aren't getting any younger, but IMO its laughable to think Pierce is the one who has lost it the fastest.  I honestly think of the Big 3 Pierce is the one with the most left in the tank.

I agree, Scribbs, (TP) ... as usual, Paul is under-rated and under-appreciated, unfortunately.

I keep scratching my head at "we need Pierce from 2 years ago" stuff. What we need is Pierce from just a couple of months ago or from earlier this season. That's all.

Yup. Nagging injuries. Least concerned with Paul.

If Pierce doesn't have that knee injury, he'd be driving more aggressively and getting to the line more.

If Pierce didn't hyper extend that thumb, he'd still be shooting 48% from 3 land.

If we want Pierce from 2 years ago, we'll sweep the playoffs.

He looked really good at the first of the season. I recall a lot more dunks and energy then I've seen in a long time.

In the end I'm not all that worried about Pierce. I think he'll be back to normal when it matters.

In many ways, statistically it's hard to tell because they all sacrifice so much of their overall games for the greater good

But I agree I don't think he has lost what made him great the fastest of the three

But his drop off could be very fast from this point forward, as, in all honesty, could Garnett's and Allen's

I think right now it's also doubly difficult to determine because of the injuries

KG's drop off over the first three years of the Big Three has been the most noticeable

Ray's game is very much the same though this year's drop in 3 pt percentage is troubling as SG's long distance shots are usually the first thing to go besides defense

Paul is slowly transforming himself to a perimeter player so his statistical drop won't be there as much but parts of his game are changing dramatically

He's not the drive and score or rebounding threat he ever was but his perimeter shooting and scoring has become deadly

By 2012, I think they all could be retiring together and they could all be just shadows of their former selves by then
