WEEI.com has learned the Celtics are one of the teams Battie would be interested in signing with if he is bought out. According to a source familiar with the situation, Battie would eye the top three or four teams in each conference, which makes sense for a veteran player who is trying to maximize the years he has left in the NBA.

No word yet on whether Kenny Anderson, Eric Williams and Tony Delk will follow suit.

I would take Tony as a 4th big.  He's probably better than BBD right now - at least Batman would be able to get off a shot inside.
Owner of Make Me Some Bacon in CB FBB points and H2H leagues.

We need to keep Tony away from this blog or he'll figure out that the Celts aren't a top 3 or 4 team in the East, we're barely top 20.

E-Will or McCarty (in their prime) would actually be a great fit for this team (not that is matters).

As for Battie, I wouldn't hate it.  But the 4/5 spot is where we have our most depth.

You know things are bleak when people are wishing for the likes of Walter McCarty.

LOL.  But what I was more getting at is that we could use a big 3 who can hit the 3.  McCarty and E-Will both fit that bill.

Again, not that it matters.

Ahhhhh... Pierce in his prime, Kenny Anderson, E.Williams, Antoine, Eric Strickland, Battie, Delk, etc

The good ole days. Playing with nothing to loose. They were painful to watch at times, but still fun.
Remember those playoff series vs the Nets, 76ers, and Pacers? When the Fleet Center had the nickname of the jungle? I remember when I was around nine years. It was during a playoff series during the sixers at the Fleet that I attended with my dad. One guy was wearing an Iverson jersey and chanting, "Celtics suck!" He was then punched and had food thrown at him by a celtic fan. That moment made me realize that Boston has the best sport fan base in the world and the Fleet was truley a Jungle.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
OMG, I'd take employee #8 back way before Battie. At this stage of his career he's like a flag pole. Find me an additional washed up shooting guard to accompany Ray, like Michael Finley or Jerry Stackhouse. Is there anyone out there still?

I think Danny Ainge may still be able to hit the 3....

Okay dude, you got a TP for that...anyone wearing the other away teams jersey anywhere deserves a pop in the head, and that is that...! I mean, hey, you can root for the other team, but keep it low..this is the other teams home court...!

I think Battie is better than Toine right now.

Why would we need another washed up bigman? Big difference between PJ and Battie. Or PJ and Sheed for that matter.

I could see him going to Denver they are in need of another big body and they are a top 4 team, and he's played there.

Devin Brown might be bought out,  I like the idea of Bobby Simmons too.

Funny. I have not seen it posted anywhere on this blog that the team is a top 20 team. Top 10, yes, but you would have to be nuts to put them as low as 20. On the other hand, are they an elite team? Absolutely not.

On the Battie issue, I see no need to sign a guy that pretty much can't play anymore and does not even see the court for the worst team in the NBA.

No, I meant people wouldn't put us in the top 20 in the east.
