What the hell is up here? Just a couple years out of a championship and we're now losing to possibly the worst NBA team of all time. Not the mention the loss was in BOSTON!!
But I have a couple of crazy ideas that I wanna share and compare...

A) This team have lost a good number of games at home, so maybe they understand that home court advantage is a no go specially since the Cavs and Lakers will have it. So maybe they want to tank and win a 4th or 5th seed so playing a worn out Cavs could be the ECF.

B) Our team is aged and won't make it far into the playoffs. They are trying but between injuries and arthritis, it ain't gonna happen.

C) Why try? This team is a 2nd round loser at best, so wait till next year and see who's left on the team next summer.

D) So in shock that you don't know what the hell is going on. You watch us build a lead in the 1st half, turn the channel during half time, and come back to see us down by 20.

E) Could they be tanking in hopes of a better position in the draft next year. I don't know of too many names next year other than John Wall but you never know.

Can't stop, Rondo!

I vote for "none of the above."

I am stuck between options A and D.

Option A does make some sense since we have been way better on the road than we have at home. Plus if it saves us from meeting the Hawks in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs then it'll be a plus point; and who knows if Cavs meet Bobcats in the 1st round then mayb they can create some obstacles for Cavs having an easy road to ECF.

As for option D....I really am shocked with this team's performance and the effort they put in a 48 min game. They are very much capable of building leads against good teams, but something goes terribly wrong in 3rd quarter which ruins their rhythm and how they were performing earlier. It could be lack of interest; and if it is we can just pray that these guys can 'switch it on' in the Playoffs as they have been saying so.

I can't believe this team is tanking. What advantage would be gained by that? This problem started back in December, so I find it very hard to believe a tank job has been in the works for that long.

Z) none of the above

I think players are too comfortable. Doc already defined their roles, and there wasn't much competition. Competition breeds success. This team needs a shakeup. Make Baby & Sheed earn their minutes. Give Sheldon their minutes. Only then you'll see 100% effort from them. Get the players on their toes.

My answer for the question is B but there's more to mention regarding the team other than the choices abovementioned.

I guess there really is a potential leadership crisis among the team players themselves. We have an All-Star Rondo who cannot run the team that he wants it to be because the receivers are just plain lacking in athleticism to finish strong to the hoop. He is a supersonic jetfighter but his old team mates are just, like it or not, tora tora planes. We have an All-Star PG who plays like Magic Johnson but has to listen first to Abdul Jabbar, Byron Scott, or James Worthy. Or, like a CP3 who has to decide what David West, Tyson Chandler (that was then) or Stojakovic like first before doing his stuff. Or, a Derick Rose who needs to ask on how Deng, Hinrich, Salmons, or Noah would want them to do first before attacking the rim. Truth to be told, there really is a personality crisis in the locker room. KG, PP, Ray and the others should start respecting the intelligence of their point guard because the baton of leadership has already been passed to Rondo whether they like it or not. He is our future. Our version of Magic over Norm Nixon.

C.  They stopped listening to their coach and they have a self esteem issue.

They're a bunch of players that have been told all their lives they're great. Individually none of them could lead their own teams to rings so they ganged up to get one. They got one. They got the monkey off their back. Then other teams stepped up, punched them in the mouth and they lost. So their coach told them what they always heard. They're great. So they didn't worry. Then they kept losing. So now people are saying they aren't great. And right now they aren't.

They aren't real champions. They don't have the hearts of champions. Not any more anyway. You can tell every team with a serious or as serious shot as them at the finals wants it more than they do. These players were satisfied with one whole ring. You can tell Rondo wants another. Sheed...not so much.

Without changing the coach or the coach changing his entire personality this doesn't change.

They took the day off to watch a movie Friday? The second unit is struggling and trying to integrate a new PG and Doc has them watch a Movie. We talking about a Movie. Not Practice, a Movie. What are we talkin about? a Movie? we not talkin about practice we talkin about a Movie, a Movie?

  • Thank you Eddie!
None of the above- I sense a little Spurs syndrome where they are atrocious and old at times but get up for the playoffs.  That's what happens when your team is old and banged up, but still has talent.  Same thing happened with the late 60's Celtics, I think.  Yes, I did talk myself into the 2010 Celtics' title chances with this logic.  *smashes head against wall*

I do not understand what is going on here. More importantly, the coach does not understand what is going on here. I think that strong arguments can be made for choices C (implies lack of abillity) and D (when in doubt fire the coach) here.

Like I have said, I am moving on.

NBA coaches have a shelf life and it's looking like Doc has reached the end of his in Boston. Sure sign of it is when you see a pattern of the team going through the motions, playing like they don't care and ultimately losing to the crappiest team in the league on their home floor.

The Celtics aren't anywhere near full strength, but they also shouldn't be playing this poorly. They've obviously turned off Doc, but I'm also not sure that making a coaching change will solve anything this year.  I think the C's are screwed for now.

Danny  taking over as coach might make some sense, but I doubt that happens given his health issues last year.

It's probably time to think about a longer term solution for the off season. I think it needs to be the opposite of Doc -- someone who's not afraid to get people out of their comfort zones.  Coaches like that tend not to last long in any one place, but this team needs a kick in the you know what at this point.

Two words:  Jerry Sloan.

More words:
No team needs a "players' coach", they need a coach that does all of the things teams have coaches for.  That includes communicating well with the players and the media, but also in holding the veteran players accountable, and bringing young players along.  Doc does neither of those.

I think a lot of our issues are health related.  We were healthy at the beginning of the year and played quite well.  I think we will round into shape before the playoffs. But I guess we'll see. A few wins and some solid games will do wonders for these guys. This is still a good team and we'll put it together. We still have time.
