PP is likely out another week or 2, but the C's should take care of most of these teams without him. @ Mil + Char are the only games I see them losing without PP

New Jersey       - Saturday, February 27 2010
@ Detroit       -  Tuesday, March 02 2010
Charlotte       -  Wednesday, March 03 2010
@ Philadelphia  - Friday, March 05 2010
Washington      - Sunday, March 07 2010
@ Milwaukee     - Tuesday, March 09 2010
Memphis         - Wednesday, March 10 2010
Indiana         - Friday, March 12 2010

So lets say the C's go 6-2 , that puts their record at 42-22 going into their toughest stretch of the season.

Hopefully if no one else gets injured, on March 14th we should finally have a full roster and Nate will have had a few weeks to learn the offense and defense better.

This will be the C's chance to prove they are still legit contenders ....

@ Cleveland    - Sunday, March 14 2010
Detroit               - Monday, March 15 2010
New York          - Wednesday, March 17 2010
@ Houston      - Friday, March 19 2010
@ Dallas       - Saturday, March 20 2010
@ Utah         - Monday, March 22 2010
Denver         - Wednesday, March 24 2010
Sacramento            - Friday, March 26 2010
Oklahoma City - Sunday, March 28 2010
Houston               - Friday, April 02 2010
Cleveland      - Sunday, April 04 2010

If the C's are real contenders they will have to accomplish these things

-  They should be able to split with Cleveland,
-  take 2 of the 3 out west(probably Houston and Utah)
-  beat Denver at home
- Take care of home court against NYK,Det,Sac + Houston

If they can do this they would finish this 11 game stretch against 6 of the top 12 teams in the NBA going 8-3 or 9-2
( oklahoma city could go either way)

That would make their record 50-25 or 51-24

The final 6 games are against very beatable teams, they should be able to finish off at least 4-2

@ New York            - Tuesday, April 06 2010
@ Toronto Raptors     - Wednesday, April 07 2010
Washington            - Friday, April 09 2010
@ Milwaukee           - Saturday, April 10 2010
@ Chicago             - Tuesday, April 13 2010
Milwaukee             - Wednesday, April 14 2010

They should be able to finish the season with around 55 wins, which is not at all bad  if you consider all the injuries.

Get KG and PP playing at a high level and bring on the playoffs

If the C's can break down the schedule and build momentum they can definitely be contenders, but they have to start showing it .

They could.  But maybe Ray will have the flu, or KG will be out with an ingrown toenail, or Rondo will be visiting a sick relative.

We will know whether this team is a contender when they are in the playoffs, and beating...or losing to the other playoff teams when the games REALLY matter.

This team has so many "ifs", we really don't learn anything from these games, except for the fact that they need to be healthy, and hitting on all cylinders come playoff time, if they want any chance.  If we keep looking at regular season games to tell us what is going to happen in the playoffs, we are just going to continue on this rollercoaster, but still have no idea what will happen in May and June.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
You guys ever been shooting around with your friends and at some point one of the two of you decide "If I make this next shot, I'm totally going to score with Wendy Testaburger!" THen you miss it so then you say "Okay...if I make THIS shot I'm totally going to score with Wendy Testaburger!"..then you miss that shot..and you keep saying "IF I MAKE THIS SHOT..." until you do. But you know what? You never score with Wendy, you just puke on her shoes.

That is exactly what this "if we do well here we prove we are contenders" kinda thinking reminds me of.
