The Knicks are a messed up organization that does NOT have championship qualities.

Isiah thomas is gone and Donnie Walsh is in charge now. They are doing the things needed to start putting together a good team soon. And for some reason people like King James seem to think that playing for the Knicks is special for some reason.

I personally think NY is the most overrated NBA team of all time myself.

It's an interesting discussion.  Of course it will never happen due to the relative age/maturity of the players involved.

Just another reason to admire the Big 3.

These players would never give up tens of millions of dollars. Ever. Period. This article is worthless.

That said...let it happen....honestly......D'Antoni is such a bonehead coach it's not like it'll matter..

The Knicks are a messed up organization that does NOT have championship qualities.

This is a crock. Did the Celtics have any "championship qualities" before the Garnett and Allen trades?

Like the Celtics of a few years ago, the Knicks have finally upgraded to a legit GM and coach. Not that it really matters -- the NBA is a players league.

Yes...a legit GM and coach...

D'Antoni is not a championship quality coach. He was stackeddddddd in Phoenix and got exposed every single year in the playoffs. His system doesn't work and he's not a good details coach.

you're suggesting premiere players like these wouldn't choose to join forces and go play in new york due to d'antoni, which is far from the truth. he was hired by NYK expressly for this reason.

have you forgotten that d'antoni was a big part of the team usa staff? have you looked at the guys coaching these three players right now?

there are a variety of reasons why this scenario may not work out -- this isn't one of them.

Because they took pay cuts to play together?  :)  The big 3 are all among the top 13 in salaries in the league.  Pierce's salary is 5th in the league, Allen is 6th and KG is 13th.

You can admire the big 3 because they came together through trades and are allowed their massive salaries through bird rights.

There isn't a chance in the world they would all of have signed on the same team together and taken massive pay cuts.

It ignores one important piece, ego.

I am sure Lebron believes he only needs Wade or Bosh to win the title.

Same with Wade, Lebron or Bosh.

So, they might be willing to split the money or they might force the team to sign one and sign and trade for the other.

But all three, not a chance.

No I meant they were able to actually play together setting aside their egos (thinking each other was the best) and I don't believe that would be the case with LJ/Wade/Bosh.  So the money point is mute because they would never do it because each believes he can do it on his own.... for now.

I am pretty sure Lebron thinks the team he plays on now is good enough to win a championship.  I don't think he thinks he needs Wade or Bosh to get there.

Actually, I think they would play well together.  Did you watch those guys play together in the Olympics?  They played unselfishly.

Olympics is a different animal.  Really tough to compare to the NBA.  Olympics is for pride and country.  These guys only get a couple of chances in their playing career to nab a gold.

NBA's a business and I have real doubts that a group of 20 somethings would put ego & money aside to play together.   They're gonna want that big payday.

It worked with the Big Three because all three had already received their "big" paydays and were on the other side of 30.  At that point, those three guys were looking to add a title to their resume and knew time was running out.

I'd say the majority of players in their 20s don't have that mindset yet.

The Olympics are a different animal than the long NBA regular season.

Many NBA duos (or trios  ;)) have done it well. But a ton haven't, its certainly not a given.

And I am glad they don't.  I like watching these guys go head to head against each other.
