Did anyone see the halftime bit on ABC for the Cav-Magic game? They spent 5 mins giving the physics behind him dunking. Having spent 4 yrs in college getting an engineering degree I likely could've done the math myself. The only difference is...I DON"T CARE!!!

Seriously, is there just not that much to talk about anymore at halftime?

I didn't see that but that sounds kind of interesting...just saying. He's an amazing athlete - the best in the NBA. If they were gonna do that segment it would make sense to do it on Lebron so I don't see the issue.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Maybe, but it was a collection of useless information.

"LeBron's hands are 20% larger than the averages man" No kidding!! He's 6'8"!!! I'm guessing that's a bit larger than the average man.

How about angular velocity on his dunk? Seriously, how many people watching this actually know what the hell angular velocity is?

Trust me, this was a just a mindless opportunity to over-hype...Again!!

the more the hype the more foolish he looks when they don't win the championship.

Stuart Scott might have something to say about that.   ;)

Well, Greg Oden's apparently quite a bit "larger" than the average man, but they can't talk about that at halftime!

I'm as big a Celtic fan as any of you guys on this blog but don't you think LeBron deserves to have a love affair from everybody because he is the best athlete in the world.

The puppet commercials can get a little annoying though.

Everbody knows that a high quality dunk counts much more then just a regular 20 foot jump shot does. What is a one handed tomahawk worth these days anyway? Oh yeah, I forgot, ti's worth two points just like every other basket inside the three line. People either forget what guys like Larry was able to do without a 46 inch vertical.
I still remember that Bob Ryan article from back when Chicago won their sixth title and he was doing a make believe comparison between Jordan's Bulls and the 60's C's. His line went something like this... "You hear the word athleticism today that you would think the players of the past couldnt run or jump...". Anyway, who needs five minutes of Lebron's dunk. We have all seen good dunks. For heaven's sake, I used to watch Dominque dunk and Lebron has nothing in the area of dunks on Dominique!

I agree, although "intereting", none of the information has any good scientific information.  It's basically comparing numbers with other things that are completely unrelated.  I am a Kinesiology major and was irritated with the information.  There just isn't any scientific substance.  However, for an everyday Joe, it will catch his eyes.

It's a halftime show.  Like you said it's to catch the everyday Joe's eyes.  And we as Celtics fans sometime forget that LeBron James is the best athlete in the world and what the everyday Joe wants to see.

If ABC wanted to do a scientific study on LeBron James what they should look into is how is it possible for a man as large LeBron to play in the paint as much as he does to have less than 2 fouls per game for two straight seasons

I would love to see how that is scientifically explained away
