Robinson battles stomach virus

By Chris Forsberg ESPNBoston.com

Newly acquired Boston Celtics guard Nate Robinson took and passed his physical Friday, but is not expected to make his Boston debut until next week as he battles a stomach virus.

Robinson, who the Celtics had pondered flying to Portland for Friday's game due to a shorthanded roster following a five-player deal consummated at Thursday's trade deadline, had been battling flu-like symptoms during his final days with the New York Knicks and his condition required a precautionary hospital visit Friday. He spent the night at an area hotel, according to the team.

Because of his condition, Robinson will not join the team on this current four-game road trip, including Sunday's game in Denver. Instead, he's expected to make a far more dramatic debut Tuesday night at the TD Garden when his old team visits for the start of a three-game homestand.

Forward Marcus Landry, the other player received from the Knicks in a deal that sent Eddie House, J.R. Giddens, and Bill Walker to New York, also took his physical Friday, but has an ankle sprain and will be sidelined for a few days as well.

Robinson will wear No. 4, while Landry has picked No. 12. Coincidentally, those were the numbers worn by Giddens and Walker.

Should be an interesting night.

Really looking forward to seeing Nate Rob in green but it will also be tough to see Eddie in a Knicks uniform playing against us.

He was working out yesterday, so hopefully his flu is past... maybe if the game was in Boston he might've been available to play. That Knicks game will be highly exciting with McGrady and seeming to be able to at least contribute, House, and Nate.

Same, getting introduced, etc. Maybe on Monday at some point when the team comes back. Where's Ainge by the way? Maybe he isn't in Boston and that might be a reason.

Lets just hope he has as good a debut or better as House did in NY..he went for 24/5 go figure, to start off with his new team even though it was in a losing effort.

Yeah nice game for House in big minutes of the overtime game. Nice game for Mcgrady too, he still has a lot left in the tank than most people think. I think people forget that he averaged 32 points 7 rebounds and 6 assists a game for an entire year... If he can stay healthy (haha), he could fit nicely into the knicks plans taking a pay cut.
