here's my idea

cut Tony Allen now so he is eligible for the playoffs.  A team like Cleveland or Orlando may take a flyer on him, young athletic wing who's guarded PP and Ray in practice.  Then come playoff time vs. the Celtics, he's on the floor and a classic Tony Allen missed layup or pass to nowhere leads us to squeak out a victory.  Do this now Danny!

Considering that he's played acceptable well for your 4th wing for a third of the season now I don't see any point to cutting Tony.

Allen has been very good this year - plays his role correctly.  He should not be paid a ton next year as opposed to other priorities.  But he has been the energy and defensive player his potential has pointed to all along.

sometimes he makes such ridiculous mistakes, but he'll be needed come playoff time. against the blazers last night, he looked more aggressive on the offensive end than daniels did. i think once nate gets here, the ball will be in tony's hands much less than right now. plus we'll definitely need him to guard the likes of carter, joe johnson, dwade, lebron, and maybe kobe if we get there. im not saying he'll shut them down, but he'll at least annoy the crap outta them for 15-20 min a game which is better than nothing.

Tony fals off the depth chart with Nate coming in though

I expect Nate to play about 10 mpg at point and 10 mpg at the 2, with Quis taking 10 or so at the 2 and 10 or so at the 3... unless you have an injury, Tony shouldn't see the floor.  And he is still mistake prone, especially offensively to the point he could screw up a big play for another team (wishful thinking)

1. Daniels is very likely to get hurt again ... his injury history portends ...

2. Team lacks athleticism - TA still brongs that and he is arguably their best 1 on 1 defender.

He makes mistakes offensively, but he has made plays this year to make up for them - more than he has in the last couple.

I think Tony Allen is a valuable contributor to the team.  He brings energy and defensive pressure on a sustained level.
He gets criticized a lot for screw-ups on the offensive end, but it's no worse than some other guy coming in and shooting 1-6 on threes.
He does take the ball to the basket well, which results in layups and fouls drawn. It also opens up opportunities for his team-mates to get offensive rebounds and tip-ins.  To me, that's as good as a guy spreading the floor.

Was truly horrifying watching him last night (Portland). It was not the fact that he was out of control (as usual); but the fact that he seemed to b enjoying being out of control!

Tony always looks out of control.  I think that one of the contributing factors to this is that he dribbles the ball too high.

I started the season cursing him out, as usual, but he has definitely been surprisingly decent thus far.  He has spent his career coming back from injuries, so I'm not going to be too hard on him.  He finally looks healthy now and gives us a ton of energy off the bench, which is exactly what we need right now.  Nate Rob will add to this as well.

Or he makes a clutch steal and wins the game.  He's done that for us a few times.

Everyone that's honest has a few 'get Tony Allen out of there' episodes throughout most games.  But likes been mentioned he just as likely to make a big play and with our lack of athleticism he's play a role.
