Aren't the parallels startling  :o ?

Both of them are talented big men who consistently play below their potential.

Neither are aggressive in the paint, and only play make the big plays, when they're in a funk, and not on a regular basis.

They settle for the outside shot and in the paint, make jack@sses of themselves, either on the play making or the scoring side.

Odom is a complete idiot, Sheed is awesome. Do we need to go further? I think not.

They have similar career trajectories, but I don't think they're similar players.

Odom was always the more versatile player.  One of the very few players to be able to play all 5 positions.  Great player, even if he is maddeningly inconsistent.

Sheed's definitely the more gifted scorer.

I would take Odom over Sheed 10 out of 10 times. Odom rebounds and Odom slashes to the hoop. Sheed, for the most part this season, has stood outside the arc and jacked up threes.

i agree...i have always liked his game.  he creates matchup problems.  years ago (when he was first arriving into the NBA) there were comparisons made to Magic.  Now, I realize that is a HUGE stretch, but he has tremendous ball-handling skills for a guy his size and he sees the court well.

i'm assuming that all these things that various posters here dislike about his game could EASILY forget about them if he were wearing green...

I think I would take Sheed ahead of Odum just because a center as skilled as Sheed is hard to find now-a-days (this is assuming Sheed is in his prime). I like Sheed because he is a rare player would is a mismatch on offense and defense. Post game is unguardable and he is a very good defensive center. Odum is a mismatch on offense but can be exploited on defense with bigger players and smaller, quicker players. But now obviously Odum is much more productive so you would have to take him.

I take Odom now, hands down, but I take Sheed's career. Guy was one of the best defensive players in the game for almost all his career. could never say that about Odom

Sheed is the more talented player.

When he is motivated, he is the better defender.

When he is motivated, he is much harder to stop.

When he's motivated and in shape, he clearly isn't in good shape at all. Even when you're trying its hard to be effective with a spare tire (reportedly).

Hopefully he does work himself into shape (not just physically, but also mentally), because defensivley he is a step or so slow in rotating.  Most of his fouls have come from being late rotating.

His post defense is still top notch, as he still has the muscle and height. He is also quite a nimble with his defensive footwork in the post usually, something again which i hope progresses.
