This game should NOT be a surprise.  Charlotte was off for three days and the Cavs played a top 5 team (Denver) this night before and then had to fly to Charlotte.

I would love to know that percentage of teams that win in that scenario.  I bet that less than 20% of the teams coming of the back-to-back win on average.

Back to backs is the great equalizer.

That "scary" Bobcats team just lost to the Bucks in a back to back for BOTH teams and now ONLY lead the Bucks by ONE game for the 8th seed.

All of us should be rooting for them to play the Cavs in Round 1.  It would be sorta like the Hawks series from 08.

Agreed. And I frankly wouldn't be surprised to see the Bobcats upset the Cavs... After all they have some players who have playoffs experience and they have Stephen Jackson, who was a big part of the Golden State Warriors upset of the Mavs in '07.

It would be great to see the Bobcats upset the Cavs in the first round of the playoffs, let's hope they play each other!

And I agree that there is not any contender in the East that wants to meet the Bobcats to begin the playoffs - they underperform against "crappy" teams but play very well against the contenders so...

Please don't underestimate this significance of the Cavs playing a back to back.  Lebron had ZERO lift in this game.  He was gassed, thanks to guarding Carmello the night before and travelling.  The King is human after all.

By my count only 4 teams have a winning record versus the Top 10 in the entire NBA according to that chart.  I think its a bit misleading.  Of course, most teams are going to have terrible records against the Top 10.  Heck, the Celtics are 6-9. 

I do happen to think that they'd be a dangerous team in Round One of the playoffs.  Obviously, what team they matchup against will play a factor, though.  An explosive young team with athleticism is usually a recipe for a tough matchup for a slower tempo or veteran-ladden squad.  The flipside is that these teams are usually awfully inconsistent and terrible on the road.

I think Charlotte fits that bill.  They've been terrible on the road all year but rather tough at home. (20-7).  They're extremely tough on defense and have some legitimate frontcourt size.  Jackson & Wallace have both been prone to putting up 25+ points in a game. As a franchise that's never been to the playoffs, I can definitely see the fans of Charlotte making their their homecourt a tough place to play come playoff time.

Depending on what team they matchup against, they could push a series to 6 or possibly 7 games.

The cats have also had LA's number the last few years. They can play better than people think.

First, I live about a 45 minutes drive from where the Bobcats play and have been to a game this year.  On average, a weekday game will have around 9,000 or less in attendance.  I don't care what the official box score says!!  I went and saw them play the Bulls over the holidays on a Tuesday night I believe and the arena was about 1/3 full.

That being said, they are athletic and I would NOT want them in the first round to be honest.  Their future is not as bright as you might think though since they really have NO cap flexibility next year and might not be able to afford to resign Tyrus.  Felton will get a long-term deal starting around 7-8 million per.  Jackson is not a young man and has 2-3 really good years left.  Wallace is not as young as you think.  They likely will not resign Chandler after next year and Nazr is old.  They will need a center.  Their ownership situation is up in the air.  I personally hope that MJ buys them because he will find a way to screw them up just like he did the Wizards. (BTW, I hate the Bobcats:-))

I live in Charlotte and have been to many games this year. They can't even sell out when teams like the Celtics are in town. And all the people in the stands have on green rather than orange. Don't trust the tv picture either. Last game I went to they moved all the people to one side of the arena. That way it looked like the place was full on tv.

Many reasons for this. First the Hornets fall from grace that was the cluster you know what of all time around here. And then we get a new owner who never comes to town and Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.es that white people won't support him. He brings in MJ who would rather play golf then run a team. And things bringing in everyone from UNC will make us like them. I hate UNC anyway.

The NBA should have had Larry Bird get the team. He was already in Charlotte running our WNBA team. He wanted to move and live here and be a part of the town. That would have gone a long way with people down here.

I totally understand the lack of attendance at these regular season games.   It seems to be pretty well-documented in the press.

I just have to believe that the playoffs may be different.  As we all know, the playoffs are a different animal and I have to believe that there would be some increasing interest in that team if they finally make the playoffs.  I mean, look at Atlanta, that city is known as being one of the worse fandoms in the US, yet came out in droves and supplied a pretty exciting playoff atmosphere 2 years ago against us.  Come late-April, they should have the basketball spotlight to themselves, right?  NCAA season will be over.

I could be totally wrong here, obviously people in the area like yourself would obviously have a far better finger on the pulse of things.  Maybe things have really soured that bad down there since the demise of the Hornets.

I think it's getting better. I'm a Celtics fan so I don't follow the "cats" all the much. But I'd like for them to get more love from the city. Many people are mad because they voted no to a new arena for the Hornets and then the city builds a new one for the cats anyway. And the new one is smaller than the one we had before that wasn't even paid off yet!

We loved the Hornets. That place sold out for every game and it was very noisy in that place. But the owner turned out to be a jerk and it just killed everything. I miss them. I miss the name because the city picked it. We have hornets here but no Bobcats. I miss the colors and everything. The Bobcats will have to work really hard to get people to feel that way again.
I don't think Bob knew what he was getting into.
