Just watched this interview of Perk postgame after the win over the Lakers, and thought it would be interesting to share it since, at the end, Dickerson jokes about Perk who could have been traded, and Perk answers "Nah, I'm in Boston for life" while laughing.

Here it is

Just thought Perk's love for the franchise and his loyalty are really nice to see. I know his production has dropped for the past few weeks but hopefully last night's performance is a sign of things to come for Perk.

I missed this.  I can definitely appreciate a player throwing love and loyalty to the greatest franchise in the NBA.  Thanks for posting.  TP drucci!

I saw this live and it was great to watch. Perk may be struggling a bit but he's always trying so hard. He truly loves this franchise and the fans love him back.

I love this. Particularly if we can get a hometown discount on his next contract ;)

Perkins is gonna sign a 3-4 year deal at $6-8 million a year. That's fair for both sides. Depends on the CBA discussions too.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I appreciate Perk's comments.  Fortunately Danny will do what's best for the Celtics, and if that means an eventual upgrade then so be it.

Guys make emotional statements like this and I just slough them off...  It's still a business and Perk will always do what's in his best interest, and rightfully so.

Some say his last contract was reasonable, but I always thought he took less than he couldn't gotten elsewhere to stay with the C's.  I definitely envision him on this team for a long time.  The craziest part is that he's the fourth youngest player on our team.

I love Perkins, slump or not. He was nothing when we drafted him and he has grown so much. Hopefully he is here for life starter for now, bench player in the future. He would be quite the force off the bench when he's older.

Center and PG are where the C's don't have to worry about upgrades.  It's the other three spots where they're going to need outright replacements over the next couple of years.

Another residual impact of a fully healthy KG and Paul is less attention to Kendrick.  He understandably struggles when double teamed -- but doesn't get doubled when he's the 4th or 5th option.

Also, what an even more dominant defensive beast he is when KG can play D to his capability.

All is not lost here if Kevin gets his legs back!!  If...

yea , but in the future we may be able to upgrade at one of the other 3 positions by trading Perk

for instance this offseason , if Joe Johnson wants too much money or wants to be traded , the c's could do something like

Bos sends: Ray ( Resigned 1 or 2 yrs , 7 mil per) + Perk

Atl sends: Joe Johnson S+T

It would make sense for both teams. I think you would have to pull the trigger on a deal like that.
