With Nate now added, I know this 2nd unit will be running and gunning.

Nate, TA, BB, Sheed + KG or Rondo.

Alot of times I see Rondo outrunning the offense down the court even though he got the ball 2-3 seconds after the rebound.

Not anymore.

Really is kind of a shame that we have a perfect fast-break point guard and nobody in the starting unit who can run with him.   KG's got bad wheels,  Pierce was never fast to begin with... Perk is slow ... Kinda crazy that the elderly 35 year old Ray Allen is the best hope of a fast break partner (like the dunk yesterday)

Should be interesting in a couple years when the big 3 retire and we reinvent this team around Rondo what kind of players they surround him with.

Amare and Rondo would have been a great combo.
I watched the Dallas / PHX game, and saw Amare outrunning everyone down the court for layups and dunks.

He could have been Rondo's wingman.

Surely this is a bit of an exagerration. How many times a game do they run the break and Rondo hits Pierce for an open 3 because he's been running the floor. Same with Ray.

Exactly... he can only hit them for a three, because they are too slow to make it to the basket.

But someone heading towards the hoop with Rondo would pull in the defense and make it that much easier to hit Paul and Ray for open threes.

One of my favorite things of this entire year was watching Rondo run the point in the all star game down the stretch and how fun it was to watch him, Wade, and Lebron run up and down the floor.  It is truly amazing, but we have yet to surround Rondo with a truly athletic player.  If it does happen it would bring out the best in both Rondo and that player.

In fact, its kind of impressive how good Rondo is considering a big part of his game is rather stifled by the team we have surrounding him.  Don't get me wrong, I love our team, we're just not a running team by any measure, not with the starters and not with the bench.  And I'm a little bit worried about the idea of Rondo and Nate playing side by side.

A primary reason I felt Amare would have been an interesting acquisition...

I would've have loved to see Amare in green as well. But I would not give up Perkins. Amare may be a center in the West, but in the East he is a power forward. What a future it could have been (Rondo, Amare, Perk).

Lets see how the steals and fast break points increase over the next month.

These two categories will put the Celtics over the hump and back to winning games by 20+

For a team to run, you must rebound.  Since we aren't a very good rebounding team, I don't expect us to really pick up the pace that much more.
do it

We should be running but our two best runners, Rondo and now Nate, shouldnt be playing together. Nate cant play shooting guard and with the two of them thats a very small back court. Nate, Tony, Quis have a chance but Sheed is too lazy and Baby isnt very quick either. We have to get much younger and much more athletic to use that run and gun style. You can tell Rondo wants it but with Pierce and Garnett gimping around its just not going to happen.

You mean will be when the market for players is so bad going forward if you are not Lebron Wade or Bosh that Amare signs here for the MLE in 2 years?
