Celtics need another wing off the bench. The combo of Quisy/TA/Nate won't cut it in the playoffs. I still have doubts about Quisy being a 6th man or even a 7th man.

Is Mike a candidate for a buyout? Can some give me an educated guess here. I'm sure every contender could use a skilled player like Miller. And what are Celtics chances of landing him?

LOVE to have him. Can shoot, rebound and brings toughness. I thought I read yesterday in one of the threads that the Lakers and a few others have their unused MLE to throw at him. Anyone know if this is true and if teams can use the MLE in this situation?

Orlando, Boston, San Antonio spent theirs. As did the Cavs.

The Lakers have their MLE but no use for Big Z.

Outside contenders -- Hawks have their MLE and a bigger body up front. Dallas doesn't. Utah has their MLE but has luxury tax issues. Denver still has their MLE and needs size in a big way.

Lakers spent their's on Artest.
I had forgotten about that. Good catch.

I could see the Hawks going after him but maybe Denver but I doubt it because they are looking for a big and not the Jazz because their luxury tax issues.

Boy would I love for Miller to get bought out and for the C's to sign him but I don't think he will get bought out.

IHe's valuable to them in sign-and-trade this summer. Meanwhile they're likely trying to rebuild some semblance of good chemistry down there while they examine whether to hang onto Josh Howard.

I think he's an unlikely buyout candidate.

In the playoffs you basically only have 2 wing players coming off the bench for any sort of significant minutes.

We have Nate and Quis who are high quality bench players.

In the championship run our 2 wing players were House and Posey who combined for a total of 9 points a game. As long as Quis and Nate can play good defense, our perimeter bench players will be fine.

I don't agree with this at all to be honest.  Yes, your bench gets shortened in the playoffs but you don't always get to bring in a player who gets bought out like Mike Miller who would be a starter on three quarters of the teams in this league.

Why would Mike Miller get bought out? If they buy out Mike Miller the Washington games are going to start having fewer fans than at Nets games.

You really think Mike Miller is the reason fans go to the games?

I think at this point WAS needs to save money and get in on the John Wall sweepstakes. Winning games the rest of the way is probably not high on the priority list.

The question is more about Miller IMO. does he want to give up money to play for a contender or does he want to get his paycheck and increased PT in WAS to show off his skills for the off season.

I wouldn't blame him if he actually wanted to stay on WAS.

I wish. I'd love Mike Miller, he'd be an amazing fit in Boston. He can shoot the ball from three, rebound, has good court vision..

I just don't see Washington letting go of him, though. They don't have a reason to.

They have two reasons: to save money and to aim for more ping pong balls

I guess that's valid enough. I assume they could save maybe a million or so, but I don't think there's anyway they can catch up (Or down?) with the Nets.

yeah not the Nets, but they have 8 teams right around them in terms of win totals...It's a race to the bottom at this point in the season for most of those teams.

except for the Knicks, actually. Well front office-wise anyway.

DC is under the tax line.

They need someone out there to sell at least a few tickets.

And, he can make for a nice filler in a sign and trade.

Ilgauskas would do all the same things....do you think WAS won't buy him out?

Maybe.  Maybe not.

Point is, they are not going to buy everyone out.
